Note: The number at the beginning of each section refers to how much explicit content of that kind there is in the film on a scale of 1-10. The fraction at the end of the last section is the total sum of the sections over the highest sum possible (50) and is therefore an approximation of about how explicit the film is a whole.Sex & Nudity: 2When Jackson and his two kids are at Yellowstone, he says "Your mother and I used to hang out a lot here" and his son assumes that they had sex.A man asks a woman if they want to make a baby. The woman says no.
Violence & Gore: 7This movie is about disaster. People falling to their deaths as a result of earthquake, being drowned, etc. There are many injuries and corpses seen, such as a close-up on an injury or a bloody dead body seen. We also see a deer with a huge deep gash, already dead. Although there is no blood it is still quite graphic.Body count: Over 6 billion. The major characters who die are:Charlie Frost, Harry, Tony, Sasha, President Wilson, Satnam, Yuri, Gordon, and Tamara.
Profanity: 5One use of the word fuck (variated as fucking).A couple of shits.Milder language including "damn" is used. The middle finger is used once.
Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: 2Alcoholic beverages such as champagne is consumed.A person who has been "on the wagon" for 20+ years asks for a "double".
Frightening/Intense Scenes: 8There will be significances of countless disasters, including the large area of earth surfaces (with buildings on it) caved in underground caused by strong earthquake, tidal waves washed everything away in its path, and severe volcanic eruptions. This film is based on a date, about a disaster which COULD happen. At this point, people may get concerned.A man gets his leg caught inbetween 2 gears on an Ark.The result is quite bloody and is zoomed on many times. We see a close up of a bloody arm for a second.Jackson and Noah go underwater to fix what is trapping the gears on the Ark. and this particular scene is pretty intense. An idea of how accurate the TECE (below) is: 5-10 is a little-kid suitable, G-Rated type of film (i.e. Care Bears, Sleeping Beauty); 10-15 is going to be a little harsher, but not by much (i.e. The Incredibles); 15-20 could be pretty high up there (i.e. Indiana Jones), 20-25 is going to pretty darn adult (i.e. THIS); 25-30 is going to be a film most likely not suitable for anyone under 17 (i.e. Braveheart); 30-40 is going to be an absolutely, positively adults-only film (i.e. Saving Private Ryan) and if a movie has ever gone past 40, then I haven't heard of it.Total Explicit Content Estimation: 24/50.
