Say what you will about superhero fatigue in recent months, but there's no denying that James Gunn is assembling quite a list of talent for his new DC Universe. Even though he's right in the middle of filming for "Superman", that hasn't stopped him and co-ceo Peter Safran from looking to the future for another superhero movie coming down the pipeline. After news broke earlier this year that "House of the Dragon" star Millie Alcock would be suiting up as Superman's superpowered cousin, the upcoming "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" film now has its director. That's maybe not the order of hiring we'd usually expect to see, but welcome to franchise filmmaking, folks!
According to Deadline, none other than "I, Tonya" director Craig Gillespie is currently "in talks" to helm "Supergirl." Film enthusiasts likely know him for 2007's Ryan Gosling-starring "Lars and the Real Girl" and Margot Robbie's Oscar-nominated performance in "I, Tonya,...

Rory Scovel sweated his way through postproduction of his latest stand-up special. The night it taped, he’d been sure his Minneapolis set had killed. But the laughter was barely audible in the cuts he was watching. “I thought I bombed,” he says. “Here I am, entering year 20 in comedy, only to find out I’m actually very delusional.”
Anxious, perhaps, but not delusional. There’s abundant laughter in Religion, Sex and a Few Things in Between, out Feb. 22 on Max, now that it includes actual audio of the audience — and not just Scovel’s stage mic, the only recording that he’d previously heard. The 43-year-old South Carolina native’s two-month doom spiral had been for nothing. But even if it had been the disaster he feared, Scovel has more to fall back on these days. Back in March of 2023, we reported on the death of the greatest boutique pop culture poster company, Mondo. Granted, the company still exists in name only underneath the Funko brand, but Mondo as we once knew it (including a majority of the founders and core staff that made the company possible) is over. Fortunately, a savior appeared in the form of ... the team that gave us Mondo in the first place and the wonderful weirdos (Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah) over at SpectreVision. Former Mondo creative directors Spencer Hickman, Eric Garza, Mitch Putnam, and Mo Shafeek joined CEO Jenny Jacobi to form the new company, Mutant, which will produce limited-edition artwork, posters, soundtracks on vinyl, collectibles, events, and more.
One of Mutant's first releases is the original motion picture soundtrack for "Lisa Frankenstein," so you can relive all the glorious, creepy '80s goodness whenever the urge to build your own undead boyfriend beckons.

The official logline states, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”

There are few people the average person associates with The Exorcist brand more than Linda Blair. The visuals of her demonic form spitting up green vomit, spider-walking down the stairs, and her head spinning around are all the stuff of legend. So when The Exorcist: Believer (read our review Here) was announced as having Ellen Burstyn return in her original role of Chris MacNeil, the general consensus was: Where’s Blair?
I was very fortunate to sit down with Linda Blair to discuss all things Exorcist in anticipation of the film’s 50th anniversary. Linda is an absolute sweetheart and a highlight of talking to her was when she brought up how William Friedkin (lovingly referred to as “Billy”) would always call people whose name he didn’t know: JoBlo. I can only imagine what he thought when this site popped up in the 90s! But we, of course, got into all things Exorcist.

It’s official: Platonic is returning.
Apple TV+ has doled out a second season to the comedy starring Rose Byrne (Sylvia) and Seth Rogen (Will), who play best friends (and only best friends). The duo also serve as executive producers on the series from their former Neighbors director Nick Stoller and his wife Francesca Delbanco. In a statement, the co-creators teased: “Season Two spoiler alert: Will and Sylvia won’t get together this time either.”
Though the streaming service doesn’t reveal viewership metrics, it’s been busy hailing Platonic as a “hit comedy,” which it certainly is among critics. “Since the first episodes of Platonic debuted on Apple TV+, global audiences have been charmed by the hilarious, wildly fun and relatable friendship that Rose and Seth have brought to life through their charismatic performances,” added Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, in a statement.

In a rather unexpected and surprisingly delightful event, cricketers Shubman Gill, Kl Rahul and Kane Williamson engaged in a candid conversation with global pop icon Dua Lipa with both of them asking her some strange questions which actually caught her a bit off-guard.
The interaction unfolded just before the crucial World Cup semi-final clash where India would be facing off New Zealand. Just before this crucial event, K L Rahul asked her about her favourite jersey number, while Shubham Gill asked her what song would she pick if she were to perform at a cricket match.
Kl told her: “Jersey numbers are really important to us players. So my jersey number is one because I feel I must be number one at whatever I do, and win.”
Liking Kl’s reasoning, she said: “I really like that. Kl, if I had to pick a number then I’d say 22. It is my lucky number.

Dua Lipa is here for a good time — and not a long time — on her anticipated new single “Houdini.” The track hints at the psychedelic approach the singer is taking on her upcoming third album.
Lipa enlisted a stacked lineup of collaborators for the track, including Danny L Harle and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. She also worked with songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. and longtime songwriting partner Caroline Ailin, with whom she co-wrote “New Rules” and “Don’t Start Now.”

Last month, Dua Lipa posted a teaser for her new single, “Houdini,” with a close-up of a gold key lodged between her teeth, accompanied by the caption “catch me or i go.” Internet sleuths were quick to point out that fellow Brit Kate Bush’s 1982 album The Dreaming features both a song of the same name and a cover photo of the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee with a similar key in her mouth.
But that’s where the similarities will likely end. Lipa’s forthcoming third studio album is reportedly a move in a more ’70s-style psychedelic direction, and while “Houdini” is a bass-driven post-disco romp in the vein of past hits like “Physical,” it’s infused with subtle touches of neo-psychedelia courtesy of co-producer Kevin Parker, a.k.a. Tame Impala.

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” has an official premiere date: February 22, 2024. The news was revealed as part of the streamer’s Geeked Week.
“Time is a funny thing. The past, the future, it all gets mixed up,” Uncle Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) says in the first teaser. “There’s only one way to keep it straight: Always remember who you are.”
Earlier this week, Netflix revealed a new poster for the series, which showed Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) riding Aang’s flying bison, Appa. Now the streamer has dropped even more footage including new photos and a teaser.
Previously, Cormier starred as Joe in Paramount+’s “The Stand;” Kiawentiio starred in Netflix’s “Anne with an E” and Peacock’s “Rutherford Falls;” and Ousley starred in Apple TV+’s “Physical” as well as Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why.” Additionally, the series stars Dallas Liu (“Tekken,...

Since its launch in November 2019, Apple TV+ has been one of the — is not the — best value in streaming. However, almost exactly one year after a $2 price increase, the platform is raising costs again, this time going from $6.99 to $9.99 for a monthly subscription and $69 to $99 per year; this represents a 43% increase in price. Before October 2022, the Apple TV+ rate had been just $4.99 monthly and $49.99 annually, therefore, the new price more than doubles what the cost had been just over one year ago.
Apple TV+ is raising its rate by 43% to put it more in line with other premium streaming services. The streaming service has long produced high-quality originals, but its library was far smaller than most of its competitors. The tech giant is also increasing the cost of Apple Arcade, News+, and the Apple One bundle. 7-Day Free Trial $9.99+ / month apple.com Why Is Apple TV+ Increasing Its Prices?

It has been 25 years since Keri Russell graced the small screen in the iconic role of Felicity Porter.
Felicity, the J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves-produced college drama, was a critical darling of The WB, becoming a phenomenon well before "the big chop" controversy and often topping the list of young adult classics to this very day.
The series amassed 84 episodes over four seasons, and it was nominated for 38 awards, including a Golden Globe Best Actress nod for Keri Russell.
The series remains impactful, even two and a half decades later. And it's primarily due to the allure of the cast, many of whom are still going strong in their careers all these years later.

After New Girl, Zooey Deschanel needed a break. However, it wasn’t due to any New Girl behind-the-scenes drama. We may think of acting as a career full of glitz, glamour, and plenty of perks, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t hard work that can drain the stars that bring their best to the screen day in and day out.

In the series finale of Physical, lead character Sheila Rubin (Rose Byrne) takes a look at herself in the mirror and notices a pimple along her laugh line. Her natural inclination is to pop the blemish, but upon leaning in and examining the spot more closely, she decides to leave it be. The scene in the episode titled “Lucky Star” is a nod to the series premiere, “Let’s Do This Thing,” which debuted on June 18, 2021, and introduced Sheila in a similar vein along with the inner voice that would threaten to be her undoing over the next three seasons.

The sixth episode of Physical Season 3 ended with Sheila finally building up the courage to let everyone know through the fitness segment of The Morning Show that she is bulimic. She also indirectly hints that she neither believes the product called diet cookies nor thinks an edible like that exists. Sheila implied that Kelly and Greta are a bunch of fakes who are misleading their customers. Greta is hurt, and she states that her former friend will be sorry for the words she spoke on television. It will be interesting to watch what the state of Kelly Kilmartin’s commercials and Sheila’s position with the television channel are.

The fifth episode of Physical Season 3 ended with Sheila walking out of the endorsement deal with the diet cookie company because she believes it goes against her values. She tries to convince Greta that they are better off without the deal. But Greta doesn’t care what Sheila has to say because she is worried about losing her financial independence. She seems to have gotten a fair deal with Kelly Kilmartin, and she willingly walks away from Sheila. Running in panic mode, Sheila leaves the expo halfway through. Her inner voice and hallucinations go into overdrive, and she starts spiraling. Sheila is not in a good state of mind, and Physical‘s upcoming episode will most probably begin her healing journey.

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains spoilers for Season 3, Episode 4 of “Physical.”]
No one, not show creator Annie Weisman nor longtime director Stephanie Laing, knew that Kelly Kilmartin would have a Southern accent until Zooey Deschanel showed up for Season 3 of Apple TV+’s “Physical.”
Deschanel’s sitcom star and rising fitness guru Kelly (glimpsed in the Season 2 finale) assumes the role of Sheila’s vicious inner voice for the final season, as Sheila comes ever closer to her dream of an aerobics empire in ’80s San Diego. And while audiences watched star Rose Byrne neg herself for two seasons in voiceover, now Byrne’s Sheila is reacting in real-time to what Kelly has to say — and none of it kind.
“We always wanted Zooey, and when she said yes, we were thrilled, but we never really talked about what she sounded like,” Laing told IndieWire. “When Zooey tried out that accent, Annie and I were like, ‘That is incredible. Please,...
