In which way will our national land policies go?
Although not listed on IMDB, "Battle for Wilderness" is narrated by Hume Cronyn. It's a documentary from "The American Experience" about the history of preservation of national lands.
On one extreme is John Muir who is in favor of setting aside national parks and having no building which would impact them. On the other side in this debate is Gifford Pinchot, who favored managed use of the land...making sure to preserve some of the wilderness but also allowing commercial exploitation as well. Both were partially right in their own ways. This show is about their lives and their work which impacted Yosemite National Park.
This is a mildly interesting installment of "The American Experience"...one that probably won't excite most viewers, but which is important nevertheless.
