Amazon Prime Video made its first upfront presentation to advertisers on Tuesday in New York, with the streamer bringing out some of its biggest stars to break some news while touting its original series, film and sports offerings.
Amazon took over Pier 36 in Manhattan, which included a large installation dedicated to Amazon shows like “Fallout” and “The Summer I Turned Pretty” as well as movies like “Road House” and their various sports offerings like “Thursday Night Football.”
Amazon’s first major upfront started half an hour late — the long line to get in was referenced several times by Amazon MGM Studios head Jen Salke and even “You’re Cordially Invited” stars Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell. But once inside, advertisers were presented a star-studded litany of projects and news designed to make a huge splash in the marketplace.

Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels is being renewed for Season 2, Variety has learned from sources.
The show, which stars Aldis Hodge as Cross, has yet to debut its first season or even set a premiere date. But according to sources, Amazon was impressed enough with what they have seen from the first season to greenlight the second and begin casting. Jeanine Mason has reportedly already been cast in Season 2.
Reps for Amazon declined to comment.
If “Cross” proves to be popular, it would be the latest successful Amazon series based on a long-running novel character. The company found themselves with a massive hit on their hands courtesy of “Reacher” starring Alan Ritchson, based on the Jack Reacher novels written by Lee Child. Likewise, Amazon’s longest-running series to date was the cop drama “Bosch,” based on the Harry Bosch novels written by Michael Connelly.

The Curse of Oak Island team has begun excavating a new human-made circular stone feature in the swamp near Nolan’s Cross, which could be the spot where ancient Christian relics are buried.
This week’s episode started with disappointment. The rehabilitation and excavation of the Garden Shaft was the primary focus of this season, but it has been plagued with problems.
Dumas representatives informed Rick Lagina and the guys that approximately 479 gallons of seawater were currently gushing into the shaft, and pumping out such a quantity of water would make the whole structure unstable.
That means the project is on hold while the Dumas miners figure out what is the best option. Unfortunately, we are careering toward the end of the season, which sadly means that could be the end of the project for Season 11.

On The Curse of Oak Island this week, the team uncovers a brand new stone feature at the exact spot where an expert told them to dig for the Ark of the Covenant.
In recent weeks, researcher and symbologist John Edwards identified a couple of places along Nolan’s Cross where he believes Templar Knights have buried the Ark of the Covenant and possibly other ancient Christian artifacts.
John came to this conclusion after studying old books and documents that he believed used a cipher to reference the Ark, Oak Island, Templar Knights, and the Knight’s descendants in the Freemasons.
The researcher said that Nolan’s Cross was part of a bigger structure that marked a secret burial spot.
The guys wasted no time sending Billy Gerhardt and his digger into the area to investigate, and last week, he had already uncovered an unusually placed boulder. This week, Billy...

Shaitaan Enters The 100 Crore Club At The Worldwide Box Office(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan’s Shaitaan is enjoying a smooth ride in its theatrical run. The film, considering its genre, was expected to do very limited business, but a well-cut trailer proved to be a game-changer. Keep reading to know more!
Directed by Vikas Bahl, the horror thriller received mixed to positive reviews from critics, but it’s the appreciation from a section of audiences that has helped it sail smoothly at ticket windows so far. After a strong start, the film has kept the momentum intact during weekdays. It is on its way to emerge as a good commercial winner.

The NCAA has decided to team with ESPN for a further eight years to broadcast championship events in football, basketball, soccer and more.

ESPN and the NCAA have announced a new eight-year broadcast deal that encompasses 40 championship events in the United States in both men’s and women’s sports. Consider this Thelma & Louise meets Jack Ryan.
Amazon, following an intensive bidding war, has landed the action-adventure show starring Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer with an eight-episode, straight-to-series order.
The untitled show is based on an original idea from Tessa Coates (Feel Good) that was taken out to six of the major streamers, four of which bought the show while in the room and with the others also making offers before Amazon emerged the victor, prompting the pitch to the seventh streamer to be canceled. The series was one of few new original scripted ideas that generated multiple offers in what many Hollywood insiders say has been an unusually quiet marketplace after the writers strike.
Ted Lasso Emmy winner Waddingham and The Help Oscar winner Octavia Spencer will star as best friends Judith and Debbie, respectively, who work to repair their friendship after Debbie learns Judith is a highly trained assassin.

Last week we used our discussion of Mark Pellington’s The Mothman Prophecies to recover from our month-long theme on toxic masculinity, which included episodes on Funny Games, Deadgirl, Murder by Numbers and Hard Candy.
This week we’re diving back into the world of Giallo with prolific Italian director Sergio Martino‘s Your Vice Is A Locked Room And Only I Have The Key (1972), which is truly the best title ever.
In the film, Irina (Anita Strindberg) is in an abusive marriage with Oliviero (Luigi Pistilli), her drunk womanizing writer husband. When his niece Floriana (Edwige Fenech) comes to visit, a plan is hatched to wreak revenge against the destitute author. As the film progresses, however, it’s no longer clear who is playing who.
Can Irina and Floriana trust each other? Or will the women turn on each other in madness and despair?

The hype is real: Ali Ahmadzadeh’s “Critical Zone” (“Mantagheye bohrani”) has picked up the top Golden Leopard at Locarno.
It has been a bumpy ride for the film, set in Tehran over the course of one lonely night and described by the fest as “a hymn to freedom and resistance.”
As reported by Variety, Iranian authorities have been pressuring Ahmadzadeh to pull it from the Swiss festival – arguing it was shot without permission – and with the director himself banned from leaving the country.
“Instead of actors, I worked with real people. In most situations, we had to hide the camera or find complicated tricks to work around the limitations. Making this film was a big rebellion. Showing it means an even bigger victory for us,” said Ahmadzadeh in a statement, with Locarno’s artistic director Giona A. Nazzaro calling for his release.

The Land That Time Forgot: Vroda Mines Eroding Memories in Speculative Debut
Thomas Wolfe meant You Can’t Go Home Again metaphorically, but such might literally be the case for the denizens of a depleted Ukrainian countryside community in Maryna Vroda’s feature debut, Stepne. The project is a long-gestating one, as Vroda has been painstakingly working on the film for over a decade, announced shortly after she won the Palme d’Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for her short film Cross. The Final Fantasy series is one of the longest-running and most successful RPG franchises in video game history. Square Enix (originally Squaresoft) has produced 16 main entries, as well as countless remakes and spin-offs. Most Final Fantasy games are one-and-done adventures, as their stories end once the credits roll (unless they receive Dlc or a sequel). To facilitate this sense of finality, every Final Fantasy entry ends with all questions answered and all loose plot threads tied up. Ok, not really. Almost had you going there, though.
Many Final Fantasy games contain design elements, story beats, and even thematic elements that are never fully answered, leaving fans to scrounge for answers. And whenever that happens, fan theories aren’t far behind. Gamers have the unearthly talent to comb through insane amounts of data and use even the tiniest bits of info, from obscure Npc dialogues to cut content, to extrapolate explanations.
