In this season of giving, MuttNation underscores its commitment to animal rescue in a consolidated effort to engage with pet lovers at all levels.
Miranda Lambert & Bellamy
MuttNation Foundation was founded in 2009 to improve the lives of shelter pets. Miranda Lambert and her mom Bev Lambert were not looking to start another business – they were hoping to build a network of like-minded dog lovers who were passionate about making a difference in an animal’s life and placing homeless dogs in forever homes.
“All my life I have felt such a strong connection with dogs and never lost that passion for wanting to find homes for them. I couldn’t be more thrilled about all the hard work and accomplishments of MuttNation this year and cannot wait to see the difference we can make throughout this holiday season,” says Miranda Lambert.

When folk rocker Brandi Carlile decided to record a cover of her groundbreaking 2007 album The Story, she set her sights on just one voice to sing the title track: her idol Dolly Parton.
But could the 71-year-old country icon still hit the high notes on this mountain range of a song?
Carlile, 35, wasn’t sure, so in her handwritten request, she suggested Parton could drop the song a key.
It was, Carlile tells People, “about the stupidest thing I think I’ve ever put down in writing.”

One of Britain's best-known servicemen, Prince Harry, viewed some poignant photos taken by rocker Bryan Adams as Britain remembered its lost soldiers Tuesday. With his nation honoring Armistice Day, notably veterans from World War I - and many citizens donning symbolic red poppies and observing two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. - Harry honored the day with a visit to the photo exhibition of wounded service personnel at London's grand Somerset House. The "Summer of '69" singer's pictures captured the dignity of subjects who had suffered life-changing injuries while on military duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, as this NBC News slideshow depicts.

Grendel vs. The Shadow #2
Written and illustrated by Matt Wagner
Dark Horse Comics
The (relative) financial failure of Halloween III sealed the series’ sad fate: Rather than creating a new, original horror story under the Halloween banner each year, the producers returned to Michael Myers and turned out a series of ever-worse retreads.
Grendel creator Matt Wagner, on the other hand, spun pure gold by expanding beyond the world of his original anti-hero, Hunter Rose; particularly with the sublime 12-issue “Devil’s Legacy” run, in which Rose descendant Christine Spar inherited the cowl and forks.
From there, Wagner continued to re-imagine the character with each successive chapter, suggesting he had little desire to move anywhere other than forward with it.
Although Wagner has revisited Hunter Rose before (even after bringing Grendel into the distant future with “War Child” and “Devil Quest”) and engineered two Grendel/Batman crossovers, there’s something...

As I mentioned in its introduction, my Steely Dan appreciation last week stemmed from an email exchange with several other people. And my article was not the last word by a long shot. One of the participants, Tony Alterman, is responding with his own album-by-album review, and his brother, CultureCatch's own Ian Alterman, is pitching in with his own observations. Here, with punctuation corrected and tangents omitted, is the origin of the debate and its continuation.
Tony Alterman:
Katy Lied -- Probably [Steely Dan's] fourth-best album, after Aja, Can't Buy a Thrill, and Royal Scam, in that order. Of course, fourth-best for Steely Dan is a bit like Beethoven's fourth-best symphony -- shades of difference here.
Ian:
Re: Steely Dan, it might be heresy, but I think Royal Scam is better than Aja. So my order would be Royal Scam, Aja, Can't Buy a Thrill, and then...well...it wouldn’t be Katy Lied.

The Fab Four harness the power of technology, the Legally Blonde star teleports and the robots pursue new plot twists
We are going to ask you to suspend belief for a little while as some of our viral videos are quite a stretch of the imagination. We kick off with a wonderful Beatles spoof in which Fred Armisen joins the Fab Four on the Jimmy Fallon show as they try to use the powers of new technology to bring their brand to America. They'll have to think about changing the titles of some of those hits … With a little help from My Facebook Friends, Ain't She Tweet, Lucy in the Skype with Diamonds ... can you think of any more?
While we are floating a few ideas, catch Belief – a video on a hover-skateboard based on the film Back to the Future. Stars who test the gliding super skateboard include Tony Hawk and the singer Moby.

This feature contains spoilers.
If there’s one thing (and we all know there were many) that Being Human did brilliantly, it was series finales. With such a short run each year, there was often the perfect build-up to explosive conclusions that always brought the best elements of the show to the forefront.
Now that we know for sure that there’ll be no more Being Human series finales, why don’t we take one last look back at the brilliant episodes we were given over its five year run? We had Old Ones, romance, dastardly villains and episodes of The Real Hustle, but how did they compare to each other and what can they tell us about the evolution of the show?

Kate Hudson popped up in Miami with her boys today. She and her fiancé, Matthew Bellamy, shared a sweet kiss on their lounge chairs after he hit the sand with Ryder and Bingham. Kate recently opened up about juggling work with family sharing, "It's so much to juggle, so I've been doing films that are a little less time[-consuming]. I'm more specific about what they are and I don't want to do work that will take me away from my kids, so I have to really love it." Kate and Matthew are back in the states with Ryder and Bingham after a nearly two-week stint in the UK. Kate attended the Elle Style Awards and showed her support for Matthew at Muse's special concert for the War Child charity in London. She was also on hand to celebrate Muse's Brit Awards performance and kept the party going at The Savoy hotel after the show.

Kate Hudson was joined by England's bright young things last night when she attended Muse's special concert for the War Child charity in London. She wore a green jumpsuit while she mingled in the concert's VIP area, which also held Rita Ora, Jamie Hince, model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne, and Harry Styles, who was fresh off of Taylor Swift's alleged public diss of him at the Grammy Awards earlier this month. Harry recently opened up about Taylor Swift's Grammys show, saying that it was "just another good Taylor Swift performance" when asked about her alluding to him in a song. Cara, Harry, Rita, and Jamie kept the good times rolling post-show with a stop by AnOther magazine and Dazed & Confused London Fashion Week party at Cafe Royal. Kate has been keeping busy in London while Matthew Bellamy has been working on gigs with Muse. Kate recently attended the Elle UK...

"For two decades now, War Child has worked with artists to raise funds and awareness to help children whose lives have been torn apart by war," Brits Chairman David Joseph said. "The Brits are proud to give recognition for their vital work as well as saying thank you to all the artists who have given their time, help and energy to something so important." The past two decades has seen War Child produce albums, hit singles and memorable concerts to support (more...

The Tower Chronicles is a new comic book series produced by Legendary Comics, featuring the creative minds of Simon Bisley and the legendary Matt Wagner. Wagner is, of course, most famous for his original creation Grendel. Simon Bisley has partnered with Wagner in the past when he did the covers for the complete Dark Horse Comics Grendel: War Child run...which was my personal introduction to that series. I've been a huge fan of both ever since. This new comic is like a mega powers of the comic book industry. Its like the team-up of Batman and Superman. Its epic. The Tower Chronicles is the tale of John Tower, a supernatural bounty hunter. His missions lead him into mankind's most dangerous places to banish poltergeists, demons, and other supernatural evils that plague his “sometimes respectable” patrons.

Noel Gallagher claims to hate tiny gigs. He didn't graft for years to end up playing to 125,000 people a night just so he could slum it at Dingwalls, frankly. But despite his prickly exterior, Noel likes to do his bit. So here he is, spittle-range from an over-excited crowd of competition winners and liggers for the Xfm Legends Series in aid of War Child. He even seemed to genuinely enjoy it as much as the 487 people crammed in there. The set is Oasis-heavy - four singles and five B-sides - with two High Flying Birds moments squeezed in to prove that he's still more than got it when it comes to the writing. Backed only by The Zutons' Russell Pritchard on guitar and keyboard player Mike Rowe, Noel commands complete attention for the 50-minute set, despite all assembled singing every syllable among themselves. There are dedications aplenty tonight. Most notably,...

Noel Gallagher has mocked his brother Liam's appearance at the London 2012 Closing Ceremony. Liam performed the Noel-penned Oasis song 'Wonderwall' on the final night of the Olympics with Beady Eye. At a War Child benefit gig as part of Xfm's Legend Series in London tonight (August 14), Noel dedicated his own performance of 'Wonderwall' to "Stratford's finest Oasis tribute band". Being Human creator Toby Whithouse has described the upcoming fifth series as "a great opportunity". Lenora Crichlow - the show's final original cast member - exited the paranormal drama in fourth series finale 'The War Child'. "From my point of view, it's a great opportunity," Whithouse told Entertainment Weekly. "Don't get me wrong; it's sad when we lose characters. But, in many ways Being Human is such a Mexican daytime soap. People can return." The fifth series of Being Human - announced in March - will feature new ghost Alex (Kate Bracken) alongside vampire Hal (Damien Molony) and werewolf Tom (more)...

Summary:
In an old B&B in a sleepy seaside town, we join Annie (Lenora Crichlow) and her housemates Tom (Michael Socha) and Hal (Damien Molony). With a newborn baby to look after, it’s never been more difficult to live life under-the-radar as a ghost, a werewolf, and a vampire. There are also other vampires to deal with: lurking in every corner of society, waiting for the Old Ones, powerful older vampires, to arrive and take over the world with brutal force. Worse yet, there’s a malevolent ghost on the loose and someone’s seeking to expose the existence of werewolves – not to mention all the diapers that need changing.
Ahhhhh. Yes. That’S what I want. It took until the finale to get it just right,...

Being Human 4.8 The War Child
So there it goes for another year, no sooner do our favourite gang of supernatural friends return to our screens they’re gone. On the upside the fifth series has already had the go ahead and will be back early next year. Considering the opening episode of this series delivered a swift exit for George, how can they top it with the finale?
Well get you tissues out, because it’s another emotional one. The opening scene takes place in 2022. Mr Snow (Mark Gatiss) encounters the ten year old Eve. His arrival in modern day Barry is cause for concern for everyone and Cutler is put firmly in his place. Hal’s ongoing struggle with the thirst is once again tested, now he’s off the wagon he’s become a liability to the group.
He knows only to well that...

Time for a break from the skin scroll, the arm burn, the War Child, and that looming visit from the Old Ones. Teen vampire Adam returned to Being Human last night with his new fiftysomething girlfriend, succubus Yvonne. They were on the run from the British press, who simply couldn’t understand the love between a graying seductress and a bloodsucking child with the soul of a 47-year-old man. So, what better place for them to hide than in Barry alongside the sacred Baby Eve?

After rumblings of a new Blur album and tour were heard back in November, Blur has quietly resurfaced—at a charity show in London—with new material. Damon Albarn, fresh off his Gorillaz collaboration with Andre 3000 and James Murphy for Converse, reunited with Blur bandmate Graham Coxon to debut “Under The Westway,” a pretty, plaintive acoustic ballad, at a benefit concert for the Ngo War Child International. The set marked the first live performance by Blur since 2009, and Coxon reportedly confirmed that there is a new Blur album on the way. The new release will mark a welcome ...

Blur made a charity concert appearance this weekend, but ended up giving even more to fans all over the world. In a video clip posted from the War Child benefit show at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, Graham Coxon and Damon Albarn are seen performing a brand new song, titled "Under the West Way," with the former on acoustic guitar and the latter on piano. The slow-burner is a little theatric though instrumentally understated. And it is very, very Blur. And do your best to ignore the show-goer who is practicing his whistle: wrong time, dude.
