Tracy Morgan's standup "Takin' it Too Far" left us wanting more laughs. With high hopes due to Tracy's past comedic successes, we found ourselves chuckling merely a couple of times throughout the show. The jokes seemed tailored for a younger audience, reminiscent of humor found in schoolyard jokes. The topics explored felt overused, lacking the freshness we had anticipated.

Notably, the audience's muted response spoke volumes about the overall comedic impact. It's evident that the genuine bursts of laughter were scarce and forced at best. It's a shame because Tracy's talent is undeniable, and his performances in various movies have brought genuine laughs.

However, this standup felt like a missed opportunity for him to shine. While his filmography boasts remarkable roles, "Takin' it Too Far" might not join that list. Tracy Morgan can certainly excel in the comedy realm, but this particular standup felt lackluster and failed to showcase his true potential.

Another Tracey Morgan Laughfest

What can I say-this is pure Tracy Morgan. When I see Tracy Morgan specials I always thing of Red Foxx and the issue that they both shared. That issue is that, after being on a family sitcom for so long, people assumed they were wholesome comedians and attended their stand up shows. WOW-were they in shock. Tracy is as raw, vulgar, brutal, dirty, and crude as ever. He has a charm and delivery that makes it almost impossible to believe anyone else could get away with his jokes. He does not spend a lot of time with set ups, or cerebral undertakings. He is a lot like a dirty Rodney Dangerfield. He draws from his life and experience-from the streets of Brooklyn to the rise of success to his tragic truck accident. He also draws from divorce and dating etc. Unlike other comedians that "sober up" after serious issues and change their style he went the opposite way and it works.
