I see what you did there

This is the second-to-longest extra on the DVD of Next, at 7 and a half minutes without credits(or 8 with), and it deals with the visual effects of the film. It consists of interviews(only with the crew directly involved with this aspect), clips of the movie(note that it spoils the entire ending, not only what we see but what it means) and the FX in various stages of development(including early tests). We get explained numerous details about most of the major sequences, and unlike the nearly twice as long merely promotional behind-the-scenes documentary, it's genuinely interesting. They go into keeping the "precogging" looking different each time(since there is so very much of it), how they dealt with the various challenges that came up during production of the animated portions of the action sequences and talk about why they made the choices that they did. It keeps to a good pace, and everything is conveyed in perfectly understandable terms, not getting too technical. Anyone who knows where the technology for this kind of thing is currently will be able to follow it with no problem, and even if this is the first you watch, you'll probably be able to piece it all together. I recommend this to anyone who wants to know about the subject. 7/10
