A Path Forward?
southdavid11 February 2020
Finally, at the third attempt, I found an episode of "Avenue 5" to be tolerable, even, in the second half, a bit amusing.

Deciding it's better to have her on side that opposing him, Captain Clark (Huge Laurie) promotes Karen (Rebecca Front) to customer liaison with the promise of a new larger suite. He then asks her to tell the other passengers that the calculations for last week were indeed incorrect and the trip will take 3 years AND six months.

So, don't get me wrong, I see feel like a lot of the show is like being at an awkward improv' show. Anything involving the struggling married couple, and either Zack Woods or Josh Gad's characters is just awful. The time delay on the conversations with Earth have long stopped being a gag worth persisting with too. However, the bits that Hugh Laurie is involved with are better, his banter with Rebecca Front and Lenora Critchlow is just about the only bits of the show that are landing with me. I still finding myself asking why the ship has no self-propulsion system and what they are going to eat once the six months' worth of rations run out, but we'll see in the future whether that makes a difference.

Still wouldn't go as far as describing the show as good. But I'm at least hanging in there.

Pretty entertaining.

I think there were a few more lacking moments in this episode than in the previous episode. But as far as entertaining moments go, this episode had more. The final few minutes or so were absolutely fantastic.
