4 November 2009 5:01 AM, PST | Monsters and Critics | See recent Monsters and Critics news »

Danny Dyer feels he has "let down" his family after his cars were stolen. The British actor says he, girlfriend Joanne Mas and their two daughters, have been left terrified by the incident, which saw thieves break into his gated estate in Essex, UK, and took his luxury Mercedes A-Class and black Porsche Cayenne vehicles. He said "It's the lowest point of my life. I've never felt like this before. "My 13-year-old daughter is really scared and upset. She feels unsafe in her own home. I feel I've let them down as a father." Danny's Porsche was later found abandoned by police, and the 'Adulthood' star credits his "laziness" with the thieves being unable to make a getaway »

Virgin Media Shorts creates world's smallest cinema

23 September 2009 6:25 AM, PDT | Boxwish.com | See recent BoxWish news »

We’ve all heard the saying ‘all good things come in small packages’ and some might argue, but Virgin Media agree. Last night the Virgin Media Shorts Awards was held at the BFI in London, and it seems it had a small theme. Not only were they honouring mini-films, but they also had the world’s smallest cinema on hand to show them. Dubbed the Flick-shaw, it’s a rickshaw which has been cleverly turned into a fully functioning movie-theatre!

It was unveiled yesterday by actor-director Noel Clarke, who brought us Adulthood, who said: “Despite being just over one metre wide, the Virgin Media Shorts ‘Flick-shaw’ is incredibly comfortable and a great way to catch movies on the move. It has everything you could require from a standard cinema, yet it can get you from A to B in style and even comes complete with its own usherettes!” The mini-cinema »

A modest law-abiding citizen, Harry Brown is a retired Marine and a widower who lives alone on a depressed housing estate. His only company is his best friend Leonard (David Bradley). Gemma Arterton emulates Elizabeth Taylor for film competition

7 April 2009 3:59 AM, PDT | Boxwish.com | See recent BoxWish news »

Gemma Arterton is everywhere at the moment! The young actress is inescapable whether heading to the cinemas – she currently stars in Richard Curtis’s new comedy The Boat That Rocked – or opting for some home entertainment snuggling up to James Bond (Daniel Craig) in Quantum of Solace new out on DVD. She recently picked up the Best Newcomer prize at the Empire film awards and has just wrapped shooting video game adaptation Prince of Persia with Jake Gyllenhaal. Whoa – I’m exhausted and need a little lie-down just thinking about it all. But Gemma has made time in her busy schedule to help launch the Virgin Media Shorts competition, an opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to get their work seen by important industry bods. And for the occasion, she has sought inspiration from one of her onscreen idols, emulating the immaculate Elizabeth Taylor in 1958 classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. »

Pics From Michael Caine Brit Thriller

6 February 2009 12:29 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

As attentive readers will have noticed, Michael Caine signed up for Harry Brown back in September and we've got pics of Caine on location in a suitably dank part of London, looking focused as the titular antihero.Billed as an urban Western, the film sees Caine play the titular Harry Brown, an ex-Marine (which explains the pea coat) and widower forced to journey through a seedy world of drugs and guns to take revenge for the brutal death of his best friend at the hands of a gang of thugs. To our ears it sounds like it's pitched somewhere between Get Carter and Gran Turino - Brown is an ex-Marine so we'd expect  his line in vengeance to be fairly no-nonsense, although whether he channels Jack Carter's ice-blooded amorality remains to be seen.Caine joins Emily Mortimer and Liam Cunningham, alongside a wealth of up-and-comers including Adulthood's Plan B, »

Adulthood director Noel Clarke has admitted that he doesn't intend on getting carried away with his Orange Rising Star BAFTA nomination. Clarke, who also wrote and starred in the London-set drama, told Digital Spy that his focus has always been his career and not "falling out of clubs with a Page 3 model". "I always try not to have an ego," he said. "I think it's important to try and stay humble and just be gracious and be who you are. You'll find very little tabloid articles about me if you do your journalist search thing. 90% of the things are broadsheets and stuff because I try to just work as hard as I can and not be falling out of clubs with a Page 3 model. Cera rose to fame with roles in comedy Superbad and the critically acclaimed Juno, which scooped the Best Screenplay Oscar for writer Diablo Cody last year.

Fassbender has been noted by the BAFTA panel for his part as Irish Republican Army hunger-striker Bobby Sands in Hunger; Kebbell for his portrayal as gangster Johnny Quid in Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla; Clarke for writing, directing and starring in the gritty street drama Adulthood; and Hall for her roles in Frost/Nixon and Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
