A fresh start after months

Warning: Spoilers
At first I was prejudiced because Tariq caused his sister's death, also killed his father and did lots of bad things. So, i did not want to see a series with tariq only.

But then, the episode reminded me the spirit of the POWER series again.

It was really nice to see Curtis 50 cent for the song credits and to hear his voice.

Saxe is a good actor. We saw his family now. It will be more with those characters I think.

I thought tariq wanted his mother to accuse saxe but instead, she accused tommy egan. It was bad. Mother and son killed ghost, tommy's girlfriend and now accused tommy!

I hope tommy can get out of it despite he was far away in latest episodes of power series.

Also the lawyer seems nice at his job.

Saxe seems uncomfortable about accusing tasha as king pin. Saxe will do anything to reveal the truth i think in future episodes.

We continue on...

Power Book 2 picks up directly following the events of the original Power. From the first episode, it looks like we won't be missing a beat.

An unexpected beginning...

I must say that I honestly did not expect this kind of pilot from the chapter 2 of Power series.

I hated the ending of Power and I thought that Tariq was REALLY badly written there, but watching this pilot was just straight up amazing. I went in expecting it to be like whatever and something to just watch and I have no idea if the show will continue to be good, but the first episode was breathtaking. Every character they introduced in this episode had great depth, meaning and goals.

The music combined with the story telling really gave me the chills and not many shows manage to do this. Even watching Tariq in this episode made me think of him very differently. Great work and I hope they keep up the quality.

Bittersweet Kick Forward

Audience loves a good anti-hero. With the death of Ghost in the original series, and the series not showing the funeral, a lot of bitter strings were left dangling between our teeth. While we are supposed to frown upon Ghost, TV show did what it does best at times (generally speaking): served up a villain that we loved, an anti-hero that tried to break the circle and go clean. Ghost was served to us since day one as an established, developed personality. He was who he was, and wanted more, better, cleaner. By the irony, it all led to his demise and now we see his son at the exact same point Ghost was in his youth. But Tarique has the entire Ghost's period of life, with it's challenges, from when Kanan was sent to jail to the point where he had to lead double life of a criminal and businessman - in a single episode. All the internal struggle and challenges that Ghost faced in the previous decade or two in his life, are on the Tariq's shoulders in the very first episode of the Book II. And now we're to witness Tariq having to use everything he knows about his father as a leverage against those challenges, no matter how much he despised his father. He now has to excel that very father he hated in everything he hated him for.

Verdict: Show looks promising after the first episode.

New Beginnings

This episode is, hands down, the best episode of this season. The crew made sure of that. Seeing the old stories being compined with new beginnings, new people and new places. It was phenomenal.

Great opening sequence for a pilot episode

Power book II: Ghost story continues directly after the events of the original Power . I can honestly say great way to segment into a new era. Opening sequences were very foretelling of where this show is heading.
