Crank 1, though with a plot only just this side of feasible, was nevertheless entertaining, stylishly directed, and laced throughout with black humour. Crank 2, on the other hand, is one of the most sordid and depressing films I have seen. Quite apart from the nonsensical "story" (was there a story?) Jason Statham does nothing more than run around like some sort of mad robot, shooting, punching and swearing at everyone he meets. The men are all mindless violent thugs, the women mindless scantily-clad whores. Should go down a treat with brain-dead 18 year old boys from criminal backgrounds. Anyone else should avoid this pathetic excuse for a movie like the plague.
