Bad-good..ish
bobbiwibble4 August 2016
I feel like I would've approached this film more fairly if I hadn't bought the UK version with Miranda Hart's beaming face plastered all over it. She appears in person for maybe... 6 minutes? And then there's another 10 minutes of screaming off screen that was probably done from abroad because she suddenly got famous and goddamn this film wanted its sixpenn'th.

So putting aside Miranda Hart's performance (like... she clearly knew she had money on the way right?..? I have never seen a professional comedian give so few shits) Who are we rooting for here?

Sex pest who literally cackles with delight on finding that the two slender girls are involved (who's "gayer", the women in a relationship or the man engaged to a woman but bad at secretly carrying bodies up stairs? The latter, apparently!)

Wife of Bastard who rolls her eyes but never follows through on her valid argument that the money would all be hers either way?

Barry from Eastenders?! No Seriously Barry from Eastenders. Okay I've run out of jokes I'm done.

A bit boring
BladeMrk19 May 2013
Warning: Spoilers
12 people have been invited to a school reunion in a mansion.

When they turn up they find they've been picked at random (by the owner of the house who is dying (or has died - it's never made clear)) from a list of people who registered on a website for their school. If they spend the next 96 hours in the house without leaving the grounds they get a million pounds each.

The catch is no one is allowed to leave the grounds for the duration of their stay (including anyone else who enters the property, like a pair burglars, 1 fiancée and 2 coppers).

All in all, the film never really gets going.

And despite Miranda Hart having a prominent position on the DVD box (probably due to her recent BBC show), she is in it for all of 5 minutes (which may or may not be a good thing depending on what you think of her) as Barry's fiancée who has turned up to drag him away for wedding (which was due to take place the day after the reunion) and results in her (mostly unseen) confinement (and shouts for help) for the rest of the film.

12 in a Box

Available in all good Poundland's now, this low budget, low rent British Comedy probably only saw the light of day once Miranda Hart made it big and they could then splash her image all over the DVD box to imply she was both in this more than she is, or remotely proud of it.

A dud.

Worst ending ever
sommer_casey25 August 2018
Stupid film. Waste of time. Plot holes, unconvincing characters, ridiculous storyline and the ending was literally the worst ending ever. Do not recommend.

Actually quite funny.
bangel33228 August 2018
Just browsing through amazon video and came across this. I have to admit it did peak my attention because of Miranda Hart. Her character is plastered across the front cover, so I assumed she was one of the main characters...she's not. Nevertheless I actually really enjoyed this film. It's very low budget with a cast I've never seen before, but I found it really funny. For the subject matter, it could have been heaps wittier but it wasn't badly done. They could have done a lot more with the characters, more secrets unfolded, a few more little twists here and there. I laughed throughout though and I absolutely loved the ending, hence my 7 rating. Give it a go!

I'm not angry I'm disappointed

Warning: Spoilers
It was very clear from early on that thus really wasn't going to be up to much.

It's being sold totally by the Miranda Hart photo - ignore her - she's only in it for a few minutes and she's rubbish. This is not the Miranda you know.

Spoilers Ahoy-

To save you the agony of losing 90 mins - the premise is - people at a school reunion have to stay in a stately house with each other and nobody leaving for four days. If they do that they win £1 million each. Some are more into it than others so some people get tied up.

They achieve the goal but just as the time locked safe opens - a burglar walks in, steals all of their phones that were in the safe and ignores the cheques. He kicks the safe door shut and the timer starts off again.

Roll titles.

Please learn from my mistake. Go do the dishes or tidy that drawer you never get around to. Anything but this rubbish.

Very Different and Enjoyable Film.
chrismorganifa4 October 2020
We had been looking for some films that appeared Different to the Formula Driven Rom Coms, and Sci Fi Movies' of late, and Discovered this on Amazon, and it is fair to say we thoroughly enjoyed it, a really Clever, Different, well thought out Film that was well worth a Watch for anyone. We would Recommend it to anyone wanting to watch something very Different to the normal stuff put out these days, a really enjoyable English Farce with plenty of Laugh out Loud Moments, as long as you don't watch it with your arms folded and a sulky look on your face because Miranda isn't in every second of the Film, she does however play a small but important and very funny part in it, but if she wasn't in it at all, it was still very much worth a watch. Really, Really Enjoyed it. Great Fun.

One day everyone will have watched this!

A film that was hatched but never promoted.

A great cast. No idea why others are criticising this, negatively?

This is a film: It entertains. It is witty. It is well written. It is well played. What's not to like? Hopefully one day this will be considered a masterpiece, of the British comedy genre? Take a bow, what a wow, crew, cast, director and writers! ;--)

Good fun
samthejudgeamos22 January 2022
Not perfect but a good laugh. Some smart moments but a little predictable at times. I don't know how it's taken me so long to find it. Echo everyone else, Miranda piqued my interest but didn't have as big a part as expected.

Great British Sleeper Movie
paccobell-3102929 March 2024
I would highly recommend this movie. If you like British farce movies then this is for you. It has a great original story line and actors to match. Yes some characters are annoying but isn't that the point when you watch a movie of this calibre?

It has twists and has a very good ending despite what others say. I think it quite typical of Britsh comedies.

I dont understand why some people slate it. Forget Miranda Hart, Katy Wix is ya gal. Everyone plays their part perfectly. Don't overthink it, it's not a deep movie just good fun.

96 hours spent with a random bunch of people and the only rule is you can't leave.

Funny and silly but amateur
LLgoatJ27 March 2022
Watched this on Amazon Prime and wasn't really expecting much. Its all about 12 strangers who are forced to spend 96 hours in a country mansion.

Its funny and some parts are a bit silly (in a good way) like an old fashioned farce. The story keeps moving and there is enough happening to keep your interest.

The actors involved aren't really that well known. Miranda is not really in it that much but I can understand why they pushed her as being in it.

Some parts feel a bit amateur and some parts are illogical but you really need to not think too much about this one and have a good laugh.

Its a bit of fun and worth a watch.

Loved it - and no Miranda Hart - yippee
Janet161219 September 2021
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great cast and I wanted to see Katy Wix. Nearly didn't watch it as Miranda Hart's face and name is on the cover and I would never watch her.

Lovely setting and great reason for their stay.

Why Miranda Hart's face is splashed all over the promotion is a mystery - not exactly famous except for the some awful unfunny TV show. Thank goodness she makes only a brief appearance - yippee.
