Perfection.
Jmckenna629 April 2022
I have rated over 7,000 tv shows and movie over the past 8 years, but none have to this point have genuinely moved me enough to review them.

Well done.

Well done on creating a brilliant show.

Well done on creating a fantastic season.

And well done on producing 25 minutes of pure perfection.

This episode is truly does captivate from start to finish. It made me smile, it made me cry and as always it left me wanting even more. The performances are brilliant, the story is excellent and the writing is the perfect mix of delicate & as thought provoking as ever. "Matter can't cease to exist, it can only change forms."

Mr Egerton, Mr Ryan & Mr Cassim thank you and well done.

I felt that

I don't know exactly why, but this episode, with the build up throughout the season, did something that made me cry more than I ever have before in my entire adult life. Beautiful.

Heavy and solid writing
magoo104987 September 2021
The connection I had with the characters in this show was confirmed a couple of episodes ago and put to the test in this finale. Just great characters, great story, dialog and delivery. No spoilers but, but I can't wait to see where Ray goes in S3!

Never better

Warning: Spoilers
As I was watching the prior episode and saw how Bruce's condition had deteriorated, I suddenly thought they had found an actor who actually had MND/ALS to play the role.

I looked up Nicholas Cassim and found that he doesn't have the disease, thank God. But that shows what kind of an actor he is.

And how good the quality of this show is. Everything about the show, the acting, the writing, the direction, is just of the highest quality.

This episode, with Bruce saying goodbye to his niece, urging Ray to forgive their father, is so moving. I can't say I've ever seen a better episode of any series. Well done to all involved.

Still thinking about the final lines of dialogue from this
Danoxmas4 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Any trepidation I had with Big Boss Ray w the eye-patch or some of the misplaced silly parts at the beginning potentially undercutting the tension from the previous episode... none of it matters because this is still one of the best season finales I've ever seen. You could call it a cliffhanger and that wouldn't come close to describing the feeling of emptiness this episode was able to achieve in just the last 10 minutes. "Mr Inbetween" has always been great about presenting it's badass lead as more than a cliche and really letting us into its character's world of thoughts/emotion. This episode really shows the power of Scott Ryan's powerful writing matched with Nash's strength as a director who always knows how to hold on a moment where most TV director's would be tempted to cut. Thankfully we're getting Season 3 sometime in 2021 but if FX hadn't renewed it, this would've been a perfect series finale. Hopefully Scott and Nash are able to work on the show safely in the age of covid, and it's my hope the show will gain the larger audience it deserves.

Dark but beautiful

Warning: Spoilers
I have binged this show over the last few weeks and it astounds me that I'm so late to the party. It's beautifully written and acted. This finale was amongst the best of any show I have seen. The emotion in Bruce's eyes while spending his last day with his niece is heartbreaking and left me in floods of tears. It ends just like we would expect from this show. Nicholas Cassim is a tremendous actor and I hope to see him more in the future, just as I hope to see many more seasons.

Warning: Spoilers
I really loved Rays brother in this show, and I'm crying while I'm writing this.. the writing in this show is different then anything I have ever seen. I cant explain, its just perfect. I love all the characters in the show and I cant tell that of any other show I have seen. Well done to Scott Ryan for getting viewers attached to the characters emotionally, nailed it for me.

Matter cannot cease to exist,it can only change forms.
trelosfanatikospao4 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
And nobody dies. Man, those quotes are gonna stay around in my head for a while. It's admirable how it's possible to fit so much action and so many events in 25 minutes per episode. The fact that you can see Bruce's death coming though, it's what's making it real sad, playing with Brit for the last time and deciding that the time has come to put his life to an end, as he cannot tolerate his disease anymore. Also, the ending of the episode is astonishing, Ray burning his chilhood home in order to redeem himself. Although, Ray doesn't understand that 'Matter cannot cease to exist,it can only change forms'.

we never Cease to exist, we never die, we change form

Warning: Spoilers
I've cried so hard for this episode, never thought I would, But such a nice person like him chose to die in peace rathen than living a hard life, a life where you become a heavy burden on your beloved ones, it really made me reflect what will happen to us when we grow up and face a similar situation, hard life, so much emotions and tears.

I knew the moment I saw the preperations for the injection that is will end this and I started to understand the whole thing when he said i will miss you Britt,

So much for calling it a Serie.

In my opinion, whenever you catch a breath the next day in this life, you need to hold on to it.

Some people will surely miss u, don't act selfeshly, even though he said that Ray and Britt were the two who kept him keep going, at some point he gave up and everyone is free with his life, the paradox of keeping to exist in this world but suffer and make the people taking care of you suffer or just end it and let them miss you for their entire existance.

Like thick smoke, the episode chokes you out.
album_dude14 March 2024
Many directors and writers would be tempted to cut. To cut often, to cut short. Lesser directors. Lesser writers.

There Rust, and Let Me Die is an episode of television that will stay with me till I die, precisely because it allowed its scenes to breathe at the expense of the watcher. The thick, choking, billowing smoke of the final scene is not only literal, but also figurative, in the sense that with each passing second, with each lingering shot, the episode chokes the watcher out. It doesn't give the watcher a moment to breathe. It doesn't give the watcher relief until the very end. And the relief it grants is simultaneously cathartic and pyrrhic. It is sublime.

Brilliant season finale
ravenqueenoutlook26 October 2023
I can't believe im only just watching this show now! This season finale for me is up there with key moments of sons of anarchy (my favourite show). Mr Inbetween is definitely pushing for my top 3 spot behind sons of anarchy and breaking bad. Brilliant show, brilliant episode, brilliantly acted and very emotional even for a 34 year old male.

The casting just seems so perfect.

Throughout the two seasons I juggled with does Bruce / Nicholas cassim have MSD. He truly deserves an award for this performance.

I've recommended this show to all of my friends and co workers.

My only slight concern is can they match the overall finale to this truly perfect episode.

What an amazing character.

Can't remember shedding a tear for any other tv shows or films really, but not the case here - couldn't help but break down and sob.

I think we all knew this was coming; Bruce made Ray promise that he'd help him out when the time came. In many ways that made the moments with Bruce more special throughout the season, especially his time spent with Brittany in this episode.

I almost can't bring myself to start on season 3 with how impactful this episode was. I hope that they are able to match the quality of this and bring the show to a closure of the quality that it deserves, but with how great it's been so far I have faith!
