Frustrating

A plot with potential but very slow paced, even for the gentle nature of LOTSW.

Alvin and Trully invent a ghost story in the hope of playing a prank on Howard and Marina. Cleggy spends most of the episode fixated on the well -being of the made up ghost's horse. It's not the first time we've seen Clegg fixate on some so unfunny. He might as well have not been involved.

This episode is notable for Tom's absence. I wish Roy Clarke and Alan Bell had taken a leaf out of John Sullivan's book and done this more often, only using the supporting characters when the plot required. Post 2000 LOTSW often lost focus due to the large cast and writer going through the motion of featuring them all in each episode.

A ghost story, that falls flat.

Truly spins a ghostly yarn, explaining that an area of the woods is haunted by a ghost, plans are made to give Howard and Marina a scare.

How many Police cars did those two halfwits damage!!!

It's a below average episode, I did try to get into the spirit (no pin intended) of the episode, but it just isn't very funny unfortunately.

A dressed up Alvin giving Howard and Marina a fright was somewhat amusing, but on the whole, it just didn't work. Best of all perhaps the opening scenes between Alvin and Nora Batty.

One to forget, 5/10.

What Happened to the Horse?

Truly decides to invent a ghost story hoping that if a place is haunted. Howard would take Marina there as it might be a secluded spot.

The place in the woods is the burial site of an Irish tinker. He was buried there with his horse and his flute.

It's all made up and Alvin dresses up to add atmosphere to the story.

The episode ends with everyone being scared out of the wits. This includes the two dozy policemen.

Until then the episode rather rambles along its formulaic path. Clegg seems to be more concerned about the fate of the fictional horse.
