Not the best end of series episode.

Alvin, Truly, Entwistle and Clegg are out enjoying the countryside, when they run into Sinclair, who tries to lob stones at them, he's clearly distressed. Meanwhile Pearl and Nelly decide to follow Howard.

The final episode of Series 28, and I hate to say it, but it's a poor episode. The only real thing of note here, is that it's the final appearance for Smiler, poor Stephen Lewis was clearly not in the best of health, and would finish here, he was definitely missed going forward.

I thought this was a pretty poor episode, unfortunately there aren't many funny moments, I wasn't a big fan of Sinclair, it feels like we're back to guest make actor of the week, it just doesn't work.

The scene with Pearl and Nelly tracking Howard and Marina is enough to make you chuckle, but that's about it.

Not great, 5/10.

Sinclair and the Wormley Witches

I felt guilty at the start of this episode. Two actors approaching 90 and they are somewhere on the Yorkshire dales on a windy day.

I hope there was a warm blanket and a flask with hot tea nearby.

It is not long before a strange man appears on the hills and throws stones at Clegg, Truly, Alvin and Entwistle.

Where were the two dozy policemen when you need them?

The thug turns out to be Sinclair. He thinks the four men might be possessed by witches and he is just trying to protect himself from them.

It all started when he was involved in a bit of banter with the local ladies football team. The Wormley Witches.

Now Sinclair believes that they have cursed him after poking fun at them.

Truly has an idea about having the spell lifted. It involves Smiler.

Meanwhile Barry has taken up birdwatching after reluctantly giving up golf.

It was the end of the 28th series. There is that growing feeling that the show is now running on fumes.

This was another mad eccentric in the countryside story. Sinclair is not even played by a well known name. I really thought it was off that he is throwing big stones at four elderly men.

I also began to wonder if there was something creepy about Nelly and her relationship with her unseen husband Travis. Maybe Nelly is like Annie Wilkes from Misery and Travis is tied up in a bed somewhere.

Sadly this was Stephen Lewis's last appearance as Smiler. Age and ill health got the better of him and he only appears in one scene here.

My earliest memories of watching television was Lewis as Blakey on On the Buses.
