Robert Rosenthal, whose character was central in episode five, for commanding the only surviving B-17 the 100th Bomb Group put in the air and attacked, later was appointed the Assistant to the US Prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials. He interrogated then former Chief of the Luftwaffe Herman Goring.
The song that Robert Rosenthal started humming after he realizes his airplane is the only survivor of the bombing mission is "The Chant" by Artie Shaw. When first released, the song was titled "Ubangi." Shaw's song was a take on another song written by Louis Armstrong titled "St. James Infirmary." The significant difference between the two songs are that "The Chant" was written and performed in a much faster tempo. Armstrong's song however also featured vocals sung by the noted singer-bandleader.
