The airborne Ebola strain in this episode is fictional, however it is a real concern for epidemiologists that the Ebola virus could mutate and become airborne, though this is not considered likely to happen naturally; there are also concerns someone could alter the virus to become airborne and use it as a biological weapon. The current known strains of Ebola are transmitted via contact with contaminated bodily fluids (blood, saliva, urine, feces), if Ebola were to become airborne it could very well create the worst pandemic the world has ever seen.
