Both actress Sarah Wynter (the professor) and the church at the end of the episode (at least the church that served for the street view) were in White Collar.
Stories behind the Greek Myths :
- Narcissus - Fell in love with his own image. Died next to a pool of water so self-obsessed, he wouldn't leave his own reflection. The killer was reenacting the gods' justice. Flower is named in his honor
- Orpheus - Taught to play by Apollo himself. His music was so beautiful, it could charm the animals and make the trees dance. He descended into hell to retrieve his wife Eurydice.
- Icarus - Boy who flew too close to the sun. When the wax in his wings melted, he tumbled out of the sky into the sea
- Prometheus - Stole fire from the gods, and gave it to man, a gift that burned their hands while it lit their way. He gave the human race the gift of fire. An action for which he was punished by Zeus, who had an eagle eat his liver to prolong his suffering.
- Arachne - Great weaver who boasted her skill was greater than the Goddess Athena and refused to attribute that her skill came from the gods; A contest was held against Athena to prove her worth; Athena bore witness to her talent and struck her; Arachne took her own life; Athena turn her into a spider as an act of mercy
- Sisyphus - Condemned to rolling a boulder to the top of a mountain, when he failed, he would have to do it again
"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire." (Matthew 25:41)
Folie a deux - French for "Folly of Two". A shared psychosis in which delusional beliefs are transferred from one person to another. They feed off of each other, so alone, they're benign, but together, they become dangerous.
Observations about Myths:
- A myth in which a mortal is punished by the gods
- Myths embody the drama of the human condition
- They're as relevant now as when the Greeks first imagined them, such as Wrath of the Gods. And it's not just vengeance.
- Myths explore love, lust, loss, death, the darkness in us all.
- Demonstrate the failings of modern society can be seen through the prisms of myths
