- Larry Moss: [Over the phone] it's me
- Renee Walker: I'm less than fifteen minutes away from Matobo's house: when I get there, I'll recon with the tact team
- Larry Moss: Stop a second
- Renee Walker: What?
- Larry Moss: This information about Matobo being abducted, tell me how you got it?
- Renee Walker: You know how I got it, I "questioned" Tanner
- Larry Moss: You "questioned" him?
- Renee Walker: Yeah
- Larry Moss: Tanner's lawyers are saying you locked them out of his hospital room and cut off his ventilator. They said you applied pressure onto his gunshot wound
- Renee Walker: We needed Almeida's location, Tanner was not about to cooperate
- Larry Moss: So you tortured him?
- Larry Moss: [after she doesn't respond] what the hell were you thinking?
- Renee Walker: I got the information we needed
- Larry Moss: Information that may not even be "valid." You know as well as I do, "coercive" interrogation in unreliable
- Renee Walker: No, tanner was not lying
- Larry Moss: You know that? How do you know he wasn't telling you what you wanted to hear?
- Renee Walker: I'll find out when I get to Matobo's house
- Larry Moss: No, you're not going to Matobo's, you're coming back here to the office. The Attorney General is sending somebody here and you're going to tell them everything that happened
- Renee Walker: Look, it's my fault that Bauer and Almeida are still at large but please let me "play" this out. I will deal with the consequences after we find the CIP device
- Larry Moss: No, the field team is on the way, they can handle this. Get back here now
- Renee Walker: [Before hanging up] I'm sorry, I need to make this "right"
- Alama Matobo: [after intentionally locking themselves in a concrete enforced safe room to prevent being kidnapped by Emerson and his men] these people work for Dubaku don't they?
- Ule Matobo: Yes, probably but if they wanted me dead, I'd be dead
- Alama Matobo: Then what do they want?
- Ule Matobo: Names
- Alama Matobo: Names?
- Ule Matobo: My allies inside Sangala
- Alama Matobo: You would die before you expose them: they know that
- Ule Matobo: Yes they do but...
- Alama Matobo: Then it's me? They want to use me to get you to talk?
- Ule Matobo: Don't worry, we'll be safe in here until they leave
- Alama Matobo: I'm scared
- Ule Matobo: Listen to me, we need to remain calm. The FBI knows we are here: they'll come for us soon ok?
- Henry Taylor: Any luck?
- Brian Gedge: Yes sir, sorry it took so long, I tracked down a friend in the private sector he says he should be able to crack the files from the thumb drive: provided the encryption isn't military grade or better
- Henry Taylor: I doubt Roger would've access to anything like that
- Brian Gedge: He also said you'd have a lot easier job if you just went to the NSA
- Henry Taylor: Not until we know how badly my wife's Administration's been "compromised"
- Brian Gedge: My friend said he'd meet us at his apartment in twenty minutes
- Henry Taylor: You trust him?
- Brian Gedge: Yes
- Henry Taylor: Samantha said those documents will prove my son was murdered
- Brian Gedge: I'll make sure he understands this can't go anywhere
- Henry Taylor: Thank you, I know what it's been like: all this time knowing in my bones, Roger didn't commit suicide and having people just "tolerate" me. Telling me it was my grief talking. I'm going to find the people who did this to my son and I'm going to make them pay
- Brian Gedge: Sir, if I may?
- Henry Taylor: What is it?
- Brian Gedge: Shouldn't you at least tell the President what you know?
- Henry Taylor: I can't take this to my wife until I can prove it
- Ethan Kanin: [after entering the Oval Office] you wanted to see me?
- President Allison Taylor: One thing I've learned: Presidents don't make new friends. It's why they lean on their old ones. I'll need your support, I'm going to authorize the military operation at Sangala as planned
- Ethan Kanin: Madam President...
- President Allison Taylor: [interrupts him] you don't need to list the consequences: any action I take in West Africa will likely result in a terrorist attack here but if I take no action an entire generation of Sangalians will be wiped out
- Ethan Kanin: Critics will point out you took an oath to protect the people of this country
- President Allison Taylor: And the way to do that is to not give in to blackmail and threats. Taking a stand against the genocide in Sangala, we have established leadership and our "moral authority" in the eyes of the world, I cannot and I will not back down
- Sean Hillinger: Looks like your "friend" from the AG is still here. What's going on?
- Janis Gold: He wants to talk to me on what Renee did to Tanner at the hospital
- Sean Hillinger: What Renee did to Tanner at the hospital?
- Janis Gold: I don't know but his "claiming" she tortured Tanner
- Sean Hillinger: Renee? I don't believe it
- Janis Gold: Maybe you shouldn't. Tanner wasn't talking: she kicked me out of the room, the next thing I know the alarm on his ventilator is going off
- Sean Hillinger: And Renee got the information she needed?
- Janis Gold: Uh huh
- Sean Hillinger: If you weren't in the room, you don't have a problem
- Janis Gold: I do actually, she asked me to stall his lawyers
- Sean Hillinger: And you did?
- Janis Gold: [Whispers] yes
- Janis Gold: Come on, what were you thinking?
- Janis Gold: She gave me a direct order, what was I suppose to do?
- Sean Hillinger: Say no. Do you realize if they prove Renee tortured him and your an accessory, Larry's not going to protect you?
- Janis Gold: I know, let's just "hope" the AG will have "moved on" to "something" else when this is all over
- Larry Moss: What do you want?
- Raymond Howell: Forgive my interruption, it's just been brought my attention Agent Walker is missing
- Larry Moss: Yes, it may have been the same people who abducted Matobo and his wife
- Raymond Howell: I'm sorry to hear that. I want you to know that I "appreciate" the enormous pressure you and the Bureau are under
- Larry Moss: I'm glad to hear it
- Raymond Howell: Nevertheless, the Attorney General is still "pressing" for a full account of Agent Walker's "handling" of the Tanner interrogation and at this moment Janis Gold is the only witness "available" to me
- Larry Moss: She's not "available", I already told you she can't be spared right now
- Raymond Howell: I only need a short time with her
- Larry Moss: You can't have her
- Raymond Howell: [Raises his voice] are you going to force me to get the AG on the line?
- Larry Moss: [Irritated] you've got to be kidding me. You really want to "press" this now? We're in the middle in of an international crisis
- Raymond Howell: I'm aware of that
- Larry Moss: And all you seem interested is condemning the actions of an agent that was in God knows what danger just so you can nail her to the wall
- Raymond Howell: If Agent Walker broke federal guidelines, and used illegal tactics to get information, then yes, she will be prosecuted
- Larry Moss: Then maybe you get her back first before you "throw her to the wolves"
- Larry Moss: [Sarcastically] I mean if that's ok with you?
- David Emerson: Tanner, he's the only who knew we were grabbing Matobo: he must've talked
- Litvak: [to Emerson, referring to the FBI] sir, we need to go before they get here
- Tony Almeida: Not without Matobo
- Litvak: Those walls are two feet thick, even if we blow a hole with a shape charge, it'll kill everyone inside
- Jack Bauer: I think I found a way
- Litvak: Yeah? Like what?
- Jack Bauer: We can gas them out
- Litvak: [Irritated] we don't have any
- Jack Bauer: We'll find something
- Jack Bauer: [to Emerson] the ventilation system works straight into the safe room, if I can feed the gas through that, it'll flush them out
- Litvak: [to Jack] the FBI is coming
- Jack Bauer: They won't be here for at least fifteen minutes
- Litvak: What're you talking about? How do you know?
- Jack Bauer: If they knew anything before we got here, they would've evacuated Matobo
- Litvak: [to Emerson] that's just a guess
- Jack Bauer: [to Emerson] tact teams are staged out of the DC branch office: that's twenty one miles from here. With traffic, that gives us at least fifteen minutes
- Tony Almeida: [to everyone] we're not leaving without Matobo, that's what Dubaku is paying us for
- Litvak: [to Emerson] you aren't seriously considering...
- David Emerson: [shouts to Litvak] shut up
- David Emerson: [to Jack] what kind of gas are you talking about?
- Jack Bauer: Ammonium dysterate, we can make it from basic household products
- Litvak: Do it
- President Allison Taylor: [to Stevens while he enters Oval Office] what is it?
- Joe Stevens: The FBI just reported Prime Minister Matobo was abducted from their residence
- President Allison Taylor: [Surprised] what? Abducted by whom?
- Ethan Kanin: The bodyguards identified Jack Bauer and Tony Almeida were involved which means Dubaku has the CIP device and Matobo
- President Allison Taylor: Where's the FBI on finding them? Do they have any "active" leads?
- Joe Stevens: Not yet madam President: we're just beginning the search operation
- Ethan Kanin: I think we need to talk about how Matobo's abduction affects the invasion? Matobo is the only man with enough popular support and strength to lead Sangala after an invasion. Without him, the country will collapse in complete bloodshed and chaos
- Joe Stevens: Which means the best course of action may be to meet Dubaku's demand and withdraw our forces?
- President Allison Taylor: The best course of action is to find Matobo and the people who took him: make sure the FBI brings in every relevant agency
- Joe Stevens: [Before leaving] yes ma'am
- Ethan Kanin: So, where do we stand on your decision to go through with the invasion?
- President Allison Taylor: We still have thirty minutes before Dubaku's deadline, I want Matobo found by then
