Vera is my all-time favorite TV series. This episode, however, gets a solid 5 stars. The writing gets 2 stars, the acting gets 8. It seems the writers scraped together a plot that was only passable, chose less than memorable settings, and should have just scuppered the whole project. I kept waiting for the usual clever plot twist or unexpected revelation...and nothing happened. So much could have been done with heightened emotion between husbands and wives, half-brothers, families, but they kept skipping around in a muddled sort of way only pulling a rather sorry rabbit out of the hat at the end. It was not magical, folks.
