  • The largest dinosaur, Rudy, is based on the dinosaur Baryonyx. The animators chose this dinosaur because of it's crocodile-like appearance, which differentiated him from the Tyrannosaurs. His white color and bloodshot eyes were added to make him even more menacing.

  • Buck was based not just on Crocodile Dundee but also Frank Buck adventurer and actor in the 30s and 40s.

  • Before Buck starts to escort the herd to rescue Sid in the underworld he says "abandon hope all ye who enter there", a reference to the inscription above the gates to hell according to Dante Alighieri, Italian poet and author of Divina Commedia (The Divine Comedy).

  • LOGO GIMMICK: The 20th Century Fox logo is surrounded by snow-covered pine trees, and the searchlights are miniature smoldering volcanoes.

  • After inhaling the poison gas in the Gorge of Death Eddie and Crash sings "Christmas, Christmas, time is here!", clearly imitating Alvin and The Chipmunks from the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007).
