I'm a huge Hallmark supporter but please stop casting Pickler
babycakes-4526912 November 2019
I have been a huge Hallmark supporter for years, I can watch Hallmark movies all day everyday and not get sick of it. But Kellie Pickler is just too painful to watch. She has an amazing voice, but her acting is so awkward and it appears she is always forgetting her lines. Don't they notice this? I couldn't finish watching the Graceland one either. Both movies had so much potential. So disappointing, cute story and was nice to see Patrick Duffy. I'm sure Pickler can improve but the tough love needs to trigger some acting classes. Or please stick to singing.

HUGE mistake
jonicannon11 November 2019
If you are going to name a movie "the MISTLETOE Secret" - your writers, producers, staff or someone along the way in a lengthy production - someone should realize that the special ornament you have used as a main theme in the movie named "The MISTLETOE Secret" is actually holly, not mistletoe. Mistletoe has a very different leaf and WHITE berries. The ornament that was central to this movie is holly. Dumb mistake.

no need to beat a dead horse

Kelly's not going to garner any nominations for this one (except, maybe, for most patently disliked hallmark lead). BUT Tyler Hynes and Christopher Russell are wonderful in this movie, and the cyrano story was very entertaining. I would love to see these two act together again, and felt that their friendship was genuine. Honestly, Tyler Hynes carries this movie with humor and grace. I will definitely rewatch next year!

I Enjoyed This Movie
mammamia70121 November 2019
I must admit, I was hesitant about watching because I'm not fond of Kelly Pickler's acting. However, I was pleasantly surprised by her improvement. Is she the best actress...no. But the story was good and I enjoyed it. Having veteran actors such as Patrick Duffy and Tyler Hynes helped this movie.

Enjoyable

Not sure why there's so much negativity about Kelli Pickler in these reviews. Fifteen minutes into this movie, I was happy to see someone genuine playing the lead role - not the phony big teeth smiles I'm so used to in all of these Hallmark movies. I honestly look forward to seeing my annual Kelli Pickler movie each year.

Cute Movie
PeterMovie6113 November 2019
Cute Christmas movie from Hallmark in spite of Kellie Pickler.

Her accent is gratuitous and insulting to North Carolina women.

She is not an actress. Lessons will not help.

Lacey Chabert -is the Queen of Hamark Christmas movies. Give us a

Very Lacey Christmas and not...

Kellie Pickler who is annoying.

Her singing overdoes the "country twang" and is awful. It appears that the other actors were annoyed by her.

The Holly berry secret?
Northener31 December 2019
Not sure why there are so many hateful reviews on this one. I am not a fan, but Kellie Pickler is no worse an actress than the Hallmark favorites/former child stars who can't act. I don't see anyone on here pleading to not see their insane, big teeth smiles again. HINT: smiling all the time like an insane person is not acting!

I actually enjoyed this one, and am rating it in comparison to recent Hallmark disasters, er, I mean Christmas movies. There were some different plotlines than the usual and I especially liked the Tyler and Christopher duo in this. My biggest beef is, as many have pointed out, the use of holly rather than mistletoe. Wow, huge mistake Hallmark.

Please Hallmark, no more Kellie Pickler
dsb-0214215 November 2019
I have to say that I might have rated this higher if the female lead was someone else. I believe her acting is minimal at best, I really can't stand her singing and her screen warmth is minimal. Now on to the movie, it's OK - the best things are Tyler and Patrick. So, I watched to complete my Checklist, but won't watch again.

All the Pickler hate is uncalled for

C'mon, Grinches. Nobody is campaigning for an Oscar here. We are all entitled to an opinion and I happen to think she is cute as a bug and brings the appropriate light touch to this movie. I watch Hallmark Christmas movies to bring a smile to my face for two hours and this does just that.

The "knight" makes this movie...
kahast1 December 2019
This wasn't the best of the Christmas movies this year (Kellie is a better singer than actress!) but it was a cute story and there was a little suspense as to whether Alex (nicknamed the knight) or Sterling (nicknamed the prince) would win Aria's heart. Also has lots of ideas about small town Christmas events!

Hallmark, please step away from Kellie Pickler...
julieapope11 November 2019
Oh, Hallmark...I felt so sorry for Tyler Hynes. He didn't deserve this, I didn't deserve this, Patrick freaking Duffy didn't deserve this! The movie plot was cute and had so much potential. As a southern women, let me tell you - There are so, so many southern women that could've put some true heart and soul and LIFE into Kellie Pickler's character...just not Kellie Pickler. It's nothing personal, she just can't act. It's painful to watch her twang apathetically through a scene. It's not cute. Please, stop trying to make Kellie Pickler an actress. It's not going to happen.

Adorable movie
juliemandelaro25 October 2021
This may be the first review I've ever written. This movie is so adorable. Kellie is not acting she's just being Kellie. That gives this movie authenticity. And I don't think I've ever seen Tyler more relaxed. A lot of his reactions are just natural reactions. Don't listen to the negative reviews definitely give this movie a shot.

I don't get the issue with Kellie Pickler.
stlcardsman31 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So I enjoyed the movie. I like Tyler Tynes in pretty much every roll I've seen him in.

I don't get the animosity with the hateful diatribes about Kellie Pickler though. Kind of goes against what the movies are supposed to be about. Yes, Pickler is somewhat monotone and seems not to use any of her natural personality. Yet, I feel she did a decent job.

Anyway, I really love the homage to "Cyrano de Bergerac". Even if in some way this was a happy accident.

It may not go down as my favorite but I'll definitely, and happily, watch it again.

The Mistletoe Mess........
BurberryGal13 November 2019
I usually love most of the Hallmark Christmas movies but this one was so painful to watch. I think Kellie Picker is so sweet and a gifted singer. Although, I do wish Kellie might take a couple acting lessons... I tried really hard to like this movie but I couldn't get past the first 15 minutes of the acting. I just didn't feel any heart or soul or connect with the leads.

Please Hallmark. MAKE it Stop! Kellie Pickler is a terrible actress!
psfzfzqnp18 November 2020
Please do not cast her again. She cannot act. I think she is a delightful personality but on a talk show not acting. The Mistletoe Secret was painful to watch. Had you cast another actress it would have been a fun story line but I cringed every time she spoke. I LOVE HALLMARK and look forward to an evening of your movies but will NEVER watch this one again. So Please stop casting her!

Nice feel good Hallmark Christmas movie
metfan41216 November 2019
First of all I'm not going to pile on Kellie Pickler for this movie. She's not the best, but she has gotten better than last years Christmas at Graceland movie. It helps when she gorgeous to look at too.

You know how many movies I watch where you can just tell the actors are mailing it in! Besides, Tyler is a good actor and with Patrick Duffy to hold it together, it's rather enjoyable.

The plot was cute and sweet, the actors were good as well, but I wish someone else played Kellie's part.

I wanted to love it...
happyjack-2955812 November 2019
I gave it a 5/10 only because Kellie Pickler was so wrong in the movie. It was cute and the story had all the classic Hallmark "ahh's." Kellie was so stiff, emotionless and monotone. I Loved the guys, Tyler, Christopher and Patrick were endearing, funny and relatable. Like I said, I wanted to love it and was all settled in to enjoy it, but 20 min in I knew this wasn't going to be a keeper.

Pure Enjoyment
tleefent11 November 2019
Well I'm going to take a walk on the wild side a bit and disagree with the first 4 reviews for the most part. The thing I love about Kellie Pickler is she isn't like a lot of the other actresses in the movies....she is fresh, delightful and simply... herself. Is she an amazing actress? No. Is she a horrible actress? I have seen much worse. I like her down-homeness. The point of these wonderful Christmas movies is escape and to give us some fun and some joy and happiness and this one succeeded as far as I am concerned and I can watch it again and again. I thought she delivered most of her lines very well, she brought herself into the role and felt she did well with the humor and seemed very comfortable working opposite the wonderful Tyler Hynes. I felt the onscreen chemistry between them and I really enjoyed this Hallmark Christmas installment. He is always a delight. I have loved him in everything I have seen him in and he is becoming a staple actor in their films. Together they made a great team. I for one thoroughly enjoyed this movie and isn't that what these movies are about?

Immense potential was misused
MickyG33318 November 2023
6.6 stars.

I see that Pickler has not starred in a Hallmark since this disaster of a performance and there is no question as to why. I saw the first Graceland movie, not the sequel, and I felt she did okay in that to be honest. It worked for her, but 'The Mistletoe Secret' does not. This film has a massive amount of entertainment potential as Hynes really puts his best foot forward. This movie is all about him, and that's because Pickler's character has absolutely no personality. I am so disappointed, because if she could've made her personality come alive, this movie would be at least an 8.0 for me. There is so much possibility and it falls so very flat in all of her scenes. She does not have any feeling or heart in her presentation and I'm just so frustrated. I think they could've made something happen, but have you seen her in real life? She is not easy to work with and she certainly won't take any advice if she isn't in the mood for it. Virtually any other Hallmark female would have rocked this. Of course, I'd be biased for my favorite Ms. Lenz if at all possible.

What could have been
JoeTroiani11 November 2019
The plot was good. There were some good actors in this movie. But Kellie Pickler single handily kills any emotional attachment to movie. Stiff an emotionless I don't take comfort in writing negative reviews. Especially when it is hallmark Xmas movie time 11/10/19. I record and watch all the movies. My wife thinks I'm nuts but she watches them with me. I glad she missed this one cause it may have ended her slim support of these movies. I know hallmark can and will do better. Find better female lead then this one. Please.

Shameful Reviews-WHO are these people!
Jazzie-too17 December 2019
OMG! I could not believe the score on this movie and then I looked at the reviews. Where did these "haters" come from and WHY! We're not at the box office. We're watching Hallmark movies! In particular I liked Kellie Pickler & Tyler Hynes! Their chemistry was so perfect. I recall first seeing Kellie on American Idol. This is who she is! How cruel to condemn her accent! I don't care what other Carolina folks sound like--what are they clones! I liked what "tleefent" contributed. This story was way more unique than a lot of the others have been this year. I did not notice the error on the mistletoe, so not sure how obvious that was. Was so good to see Patrick Duffy too! Just a enjoyable 2 hours. Thank you Kellie for your joyfulness. I know you are a sweet girl and these reviews will hurt your feelings. Don't let it. "Alex's" friend and partner's role needed a little better writing to make it more plausible, but I liked that their friendship was true and it lasted.

3 stars for the 3 male costars...
MovieQween-3362213 November 2019
I really don't like piling onto anything negative, especially during the Holiday season when our job is spread kindness and love. The three males in here deserved better and I think they did the absolute best they could. With this being said, I just do not think Kellie Pickler is meant to be an actress. Her singing voice is beautiful and we know she is a talented singer who is gorgeous! But not everyone can be good at everything, that's just how it goes! I was hoping after the Graceland movie debacle last year, Kellie would have taken some acting lessons to help show us negative reviewers wrong. But that did not happen for this movie either. I love to see a good success story though so please Hallmark give her a chance to improve with an acting coach or please stop casting her. People who watch Hallmark Christmas movies do not want to rip people or leave negative reviews. We want to enjoy the films and revel in the Christmas spirit!! It's so hard when the lead actress fails to connect with her costars and fails to connect with people at home watching. Sometimes things need to be addressed, this was one of those time. Please improve this Hallmark! I would also love to see Christopher Russell as a lead in a movie in the future!

Please stop using Kellie Pickler
Dino5149911 November 2019
I created this account just to give feedback on Kellie Pickler. I love Hallmark movies and Tyler Hynes was great. I was one minute in to this movie when I remembered why I didn't enjoy her Graceland movie at all. She can't act, and worse, her monotone, unemotional voice is completely disconnected from the story. I'm southern, and I wouldn't mind her accent if her voice had any other inflection at all...but it doesn't. It just feels over the top to make up for her lack of acting ability. Kellie's movies are the only Hallmark movies I won't watch. For the love of God Hallmark, please don't cast her again. It makes me feel badly for the other actors in the movie.
