Exclusive: The Descent 2 Set Visit!

23 July 2008 6:15 AM, PDT | From DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news

Two crawlers lounge idly on a sofa wrapped in matching dressing gowns. One glances at a newspaper while the other sits lost in thought. Fear not readers, Mike Leigh is not here directing The Descent 2 as some kind of kitchen sink drama centred around a family of crawlers, I've merely stumbled across the crawler workshop where the pair are waiting to be called onto set - but it's a surreal sight nonetheless.

I've been invited to spend a day at Ealing Studios where filming on the sequel to Neil Marshall's acclaimed British horror has entered its penultimate week. For those of you that haven’t seen the original (and where have you been hiding?), The Descent followed a group of six female adrenaline-junkies who go spelunking – that’s caving to you and me - and end up in a whole world of trouble when they fall foul of a bunch of naked ghouls,

First ‘The Descent 2’ image debuts on web!

16 June 2008 11:21 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

I absolutely loved Neil Marshall’s “The Descent” when I first saw it, and I even thought it was one of the scariest flicks in a long time. I do however think it was a very bad idea to develop a sequel. But hey, who’s asking what I think, right?

The Descent 2” is definitely coming, and there’s nothing we can do about it. Actually, principal photography is underway, and Fangoria got to visit the set. They also got a hold of the first still from the film, which you can see above. At least the nasty crawler still looks pretty frightening. Click here to read the full set visit report.

Neil Marshall will not be returning to direct, but he’s on board as executive producer. Good news is the entire original cast is back in action. Then again, the screenwriter has changed. Anyway, enjoy the pic above.

First Look at a Cave-dweller from 'Descent 2'!

16 June 2008 5:40 PM, PDT | From bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news

Today the first official still was posted from Pathe's The Descent 2, which stars Douglas Hodge, Krysten Cummings, MyAnna Buring, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder and Nora-Jane Noone. Directed by Jon Harris, The Descent 2 picks up immediately after the events depicted in The Descent Sarah (MacDonald), emerges alone from a cave system following an expedition with her five friends in the Appalachian mountains. Distraught, injured and covered in the blood of her missing companions, Sarah is incoherent and half-wild with fear. Skeptical about her account of events and convinced Sarah's psychosis hides far darker secrets, Sheriff Vaines forces her back into the caves to help locate the rest of the group. Trapped by falling rocks, the rescue party are driven deep into the caverns, and as one by one the fate of the missing girls is revealed, Sarah is forced to confront her deepest fears.

Entire Original Cast Returns For The Descent 2?!

13 June 2008 10:30 AM, PDT | From iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news

An article on Empire reveals that all the actresses from the first Descent film are returning for The Descent 2?! How, you're wondering? Flashbacks, of course. Shauna MacDonald and Natalie Mendoza were among the first cast members announced for the sequel, but now the article confirms that MyAnna Buring (Sam), Alex Reid (Beth), Saskia Mulder (Rebecca) and Nora-Jane Noone (Holly) are all back in brief appearances.

Buring told Empire, "I don't know if I'm supposed to tell you this, but we'll all appear in flashbacks. We had that video camera in the first film, remember, so [it's footage from that]. It was last week that we all rocked up on set in Ealing Studios and they'd mocked up these sets that looked like where we'd shot in the first film...so I went back to being Sam for a day".

(Spoiler) The question on everyone's mind is exactly which ending is this new movie picking up from?
