When Amos is walking through Lovell Station on Luna he passes a holographic memorial for a ship called the "Augustin Gamarra", the memorial reads: "In memory of the 516 souls lost". The Augustin Gamarra was the ship destroyed by Marco Inaros and Naomi Nagata (unwittingly) when Naomi was in her late teens. The ship was a cargo vessel transporting hydroponics equipment, scientists and workers to the Earth-Mars research station Oshima in the belt. She was docked at Lovell City to take on cargo and passengers when she was destroyed by a reactor breach. Naomi hacked the computers controlling the ship's reactor for Marco, who told her he was going to disable the ship's engines once it launched so they could "rescue" it for a reward. Instead he used the system access granted by Naomi's hack to overload the ship's reactor destroying it and the facility it was docked at.
When Alex meets Bobby in the western-style bar, you'll hear the Rawhide (1959) theme song, the show that made Clint Eastwood famous.
Lovell City (where Amos was when talking to Avasarala) is the largest settlement on Luna and its capitol. It is named after NASA astronaut Jim Lovell; in 1968 Lovell was the command module pilot for Apollo 8, making him along with Frank Borman and William Anders the first astronauts to fly to the moon and complete a full orbit of it. Lovell is best known for being the mission commander for Apollo 13 in 1970, the mission also included mission specialist Fred Haise and command module pilot Jack Swigert. Apollo 13 was slated to be the third manned mission to the moon but was nearly lost due to a critical system malfunction in the oxygen tanks that resulted in an explosion that severely damaged and crippled the command module. The crew was forced to abandon their mission to land on the moon and were forced to take shelter inside the lunar module as the command module's power systems were badly damaged. They managed to perform a slingshot maneuver around the moon and returned safely home four days later. Filmmaker Ron Howard made a movie about the mission: Apollo 13 (1995), with Jim Lovell being played by Tom Hanks, Fred Haise was played by Bill Paxton and Jack Swigert by Kevin Bacon.
