They tackled this episode in a surprisingly well thought way. Not every writer is a nice person or ridiculously over the top, like this show has presented many a author over its 7 season duration. Instead they had authors who were egomaniacs, but were rational about it. They wanted Liza and Charles to convince them why they should sign with them, not just win them over with a monetary bid. Good to see that shift that I think is how a writing couple like this may act. And then to add in the element of writing under a pen name worked, because obviously Liza liked it but Charles didn't. That was a good way to get back to their own personal struggles and relationship issues in the end.
