- John Amsterdam (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Rebecca (Christian Corp) are seen engaging in a sex scene right at the beginning. While the lighting is subdued and no body parts are explicitly seen, the outlines of the actors can be seen during the scene.
- John Amsterdam is seen in a swimming pool while completely naked taking laps across the pool. While it is implied in the dialog that he is swimming naked, only the upper body and legs is seen, and when John gets out of the swimming pool he is wrapped with a towel around his middle while talking to Eva Marquez (Zuleikha Robinson)

- Chloe Carlton (Janai Devon) is seen in an apartment with an appearance of looking dead and posing as a victim being investigated by the New York City Police Department. A long pan across her body is made showing stabbing wounds and blood dripping from several parts of her body.
- In a later scene, Chloe is seen on a medial examiners table with what appears to be incisions showing some exploratory surgery on her chest to determine the cause of her death. A snapshot of this scene is also shown in a couple of subsequent scenes during the episode.
- John Amsterdam is found in a village of Lenape while it is being attacked by Dutch soldiers in the middle of the 17th Century. A sword is seen going through the chest of John by one of those Dutch soldiers.

- Omar York (Stephen McKinley Henderson) is a proprietor of a bar and is a major character of the series where several scenes take place within the bar, where scenes of various patrons consuming alcohol is shown.
- On the other hand, John Amsterdam is also shown as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and tries to demonstrate a long term abstinence from alcohol consumption, turning down alcohol on several occasions when offered.
- John Amsterdam is seen, however, smoking a water pipe at a Turkish bar.
