Andrew Kasch just checked in with a Dark City: Director's Cut update and news about future projects from Alex Proyas.
Director Alex Proyas revealed that the July 29th release of this cut of the film will be about 10 minutes longer. Most of this time is made up with extra dialogue which, we're told, helped further the development of both Rufus Sewell's and Jennifer Connelly's characters. It may not add to the overall visual flare of the film, but it does create a more complex story that was lost thanks to good ol' test audiences.
Now for the real interesting news. Alex Proyas also hinted that he may be doing a Dracula feature in the future, but right now the only things listed on his upcoming slate are Knowing and possibly (Please!) Silver Surfer. Mr. Proyas' other future endeavors will be adapting a trilogy of books, though we're not quite sure which three.

With the upcoming release of Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy II: The Golden Army this weekend, the talented Doug Jones yet again gets to showcase his brilliant creature acting in three roles: Abe Sapien, the Chamberlain, and the Angel of Death. Luckily I had the chance to interview Doug recently and it was truly an honor - he is one of my favorite actors who always does a fantastic job. His talents are limitless and he's captured my fascination as Abe in Hellboy, the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four, and the Faun in Pan's Labyrinth. Doug and I talked about the mythology of the character of Abe Sapien, about being a lost soul, how glad he was to finally hear his own voice for Abe, and his work with the now legendary Guillermo del Toro. Variety reports that Clint Eastwood’s latest film “Changeling,” starring Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich will hit the theaters in a limited release on October 24th, 2008. “Changeling” recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is set in 1920’s Los Angeles and follows Christine Collins (Jolie), a mother who’s kidnapped son returns home unharmed, but soon after she suspects that the boy is not her own.
