The fortune-telling gypsy moth is named Cassandra. The origin of the name Cassandra came from the prophesying Trojan princess from the Greek epic poem, the Iliad. In the Iliad, Cassandra was blessed with the gift of prophesy but condemned never to be believed.
The episode title is a play on the famous phrase: see no evil, hear no evil. The episode also prominently features a monkey, a symbol often associated with the aforementioned saying.
Cassandra the moth tells fortunes by staring into the light of a lightbulb. This is fitting, as moths are drawn to light.
Even though Chip and Dale have been known to bicker and fight practically on a daily basis, this episode demonstrates very much how great of friends the chipmunks really are as Dale breaks down and cries at one point reminding Chip of his predicted fate, then when they go to see Cassandra again to confirm her predictions,Dale tells her that Chip is his best friend. Then of course he is in tears after the accident happens and it appears Chip indeed has been killed and then he becomes greatly overjoyed after learning that Chip is still alive, pouncing on him and hugging him.
