- Promotional video for 'Pressure Off' Band (John, Simon, Nick and Rogeer) shot on sound stage in London. Each member perform separately against white Each member shot jumping or throwing at 1000fps Nile Rodgers and Janelle Monie shot on a sound stage in Los Angels (same as above) Different extras of various ages shot jumping at 1000fps.—Nick Egan
- Based, loosely, on the photographer Philippe Halsman's famous book 'Jump' which took the very simple human need to jump and turned it into a celebrated collection of portraits. This very simple ritualistic instinct is part of all of us.
Halsman illustrated this so poignantly, documenting a cross section of human creativity, ingenuity and athleticism, how a jump, this sudden burst of energy, overcomes gravity.
'Pressure Off' is a modern contemporary version of that concept utilizing the modern cameras attention to detail.
The cast will be a cross section of interesting characters shot at 1000fps they will be seen jumping in slow motion almost frozen in the air.
This will be inter cut with each Duran Duran band member filmed individually and com-posited together choosing the best moments of each performance therefore creating a strong group performance.
Post production layering and moves add an unusual dynamic. Moving in and out of individuals, from background to foreground. For example an extreme close up of Simon with John in the background and vice versa.
On the surface the video will appear like any normal performance but set against this stark white graphic backdrop creating the feeling that, at times, there are 6 members together on stage. Having no visible horizon giving license to play with perspective. Images are manipulated to create a stylish interesting way of filming the four main characters in Duran, both individually and as a group. This will also help to create the illusion that Nile and Janelle are also part of the performance.
Shifted focus, different film speeds, stills and counter camera moves all in the same scene, creating a stylish and unusual way of illustrating a strong band performance.
The concept gives a dynamic and artistic element to inter cut with powerful band performance.
