In what I can only pray is a kind of “That would be fun, we should make that movie someday,”-story because I can’t fathom why Jamie Foxx would want to go back and make a movie starring his stand-up/”In Loving Color” character, Wanda Wayne. You don’t see Jim Carrey angling for a Fire Marshall Bill movie and Foxx has far more respect and critical appreciation than Carrey.
On the other hand, I completely understand Martin Lawrence digging his stand-up/”Martin” character, Sheneneh Jenkins for a movie since Lawrence has shown he has no interest in expanding beyond the “College Road Trip”/”Big Momma’s House”-type films he’s done for the past several years. But regardless of their career trajectories, Lawrence and Foxx are planning to star in a feature film crossover of their 90s, ugly women character, “Sheneneh and Wanda”. Hit the jump for details. »

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment are joining forces to turn the Dr. Seuss book The Lorax into a 3-D CG animated feature, report the trades. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Cat in the Hat previously received live-action big screen treatment, while the recent Horton Hears a Who! went the animated route. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax will be co-directed by Chris Renaud and Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio, with Paul & Daurio writing the script. Renaud, who started out as a storyboard artist on Ice Age: The Meltdown and Robots, is making his feature directorial debut with the Steve Carrell animated flick Despicable Me. Paul & Daurio penned the screenplay for Me and also scripted Bubble Boy, The Santa Clause 2, College Road Trip and the aforementioned Horton Hears a Who!. Though published in 1971, The Lorax has a timely "green" theme. It is narrated by a greedy entrepreneur who, despite warnings from the tree-loving Lorax, »

The full cast of family comedy Furry Vengeance has been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter: Brendan Fraser will be joined by Dick Van Dyke, Ken Jeong, Samantha Bee and Brooke Shields! This will be Shields' first movie role (to see the inside of a cinema) for ten years, in a plot that sees her playing Fraser's wife. Fraser himself plays a real-estate agent battling a plague of racoons on some prime real estate. Director Roger Kumble previously made the rather good Cruel Intentions (and its awful Dtv sequel), The Sweetest Thing, and College Road Trip. Frankly, it's hard to get excited. But this sounds kind of like an extended version of the Bill Murray bits from Caddyshack, which could work... Y'know, for kids... »

I'm all for the return to 2D animation and with Disney's The Princess and the Frog coming this winter, it seems as though 2D's resurrection is nigh. After seeing the animated portions of Enchanted last year and with the promotion of John Lasseter to head of Walt Disney Animation, it's easy to feel as though Disney still has some great cartoons up their sleeves. Now if Disney could only figure out their live-action department and stop releasing stuff like The Game Plan and College Road Trip, they might actually be on to something. The official trailer for The Princess and the Frog is set to be attached to Up at the end of this month, but it's already been released online. You can see the trailer embedded below, or get high-res links Here. »

Ben Stiller and Teri Polo will be having different sexes of twins in "Little Fockers". A casting call for the sequel to 2004 comedy "Meet the Fockers" gives out that the filmmakers are looking for 6-year-old boy and girl to play 5-year-old twins, Henry and Ashley.
Beside noting that a set of boy and girl is needed, the casting call also uncovers details on each of the characters. While Henry is described to be a kind and little oversensitive boy who likes to sing and dance, his twin sister Ashley is said to be a tomboy who can be a little bit of a bully, but loves her twin brother.
The casting call further noted that Henry "has a pet lizard who he loves, and likes to imitate", "gets along by withdrawing from conflict with other kids", and "likes to play solo on the schoolyard". On the other hand, Ashley "likes finding out things, »

Ashley: is a tomboy. She can be a little bit of a bully, but she loves her twin brother. She likes finding out things, especially if it's something a grownup doesn't want her to know. Hannah Montana: The Movie is harmless. It.s contagiously happy so even if you see right through it, which you can, it.s not worth it. Even though it.s fake plastered smiles, it.s happy. I mean, it.s no College Road Trip but it.s harmless.
Review: Hannah Montana: The Movie
Now I.ve never seen the show and I found myself able to keep up just fine. Miley Stewart performs as Hannah Montana so that she can still live a normal life. But she likes the fame and celebrity so needs to get schooled on being her true self. It.s a contrived double identity situation, and even in the movie they play the old two places at once game from Mrs. Doubtfire and many other movies, but that.s the schtick. They.re not showing real fame or real high school, but the kids get it. »

Martin Lawrence may be starring in the new comedy, Back to Africa, from Alcon Entertainment.
Lawrence would be playing a "working class man from Queens who discovers he is the heir to the throne of an African country." Seemingly a reserve of the plot from Eddie Murphy's 1988 comedy Coming to America, Martin Lawrence's character will be thrust into wacky circumstances as he struggles to adapt with his new "family" on the Dark Continent.
Alcon is also producing the Hughes brothers Book of Eli, due out in January of next year.
Lawrence was last seen in last year's comedy, College Road Trip, with Disney star Raven-Symoné. »

Alcon Entertainment has acquired Martin Lawrence's "Back to America" pitch that will be drafted as a potential starring vehicle for Lawrence. The comedy centers on a working-class man from Queens who discovers he is heir to the throne of an African country and travels there to claim his birthright. I am not the target audience for Disney's popular High School Musical trilogy. However, that does not mean I cannot appreciate them for the phenomenally popular spectacle they have become. Tween girls and boys of all shapes and sizes have been gobbling these musicals up since the first one debuted on the Disney Channel in 2006, which is why the $90-plus million theatrical gross of High School Musical 3: Senior Year nowhere near the shocker many critics would like you to believe. Having finally watched the new Blu-ray releases of both these films (skipping over the second chapter because it wasn't sent to us for review -- what's the deal Disney?) I admit I didn't feel an ounce of regret viewing them. What I expected to be nothing more than annoying "Saved by the Bell" retreads only with terrible pop songs were instead oddly okay time-wasters perfectly suited for family audiences. »

2008 was a banner year for Lucas Grabeel as he shined in High School Musical, The Adventures of Food Boy and even had a part in College Road Trip acting with fellow Disney stars Raven-Symone and Brenda Song. These days the charismatic actor is testing out new roles that push limits such as the acclaimed short The Real Son. Brent Geisler has had the privilege and experience to work with some of Hollywood's finest through his years as an assistant director. He has been nominated three times for Directors Guild awards and is in the process of developing two major motion pictures. Brent's new movie Dadnapped is set to come out this year starring Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Moises Arias and Jennifer Stone. Kelly King began working in the business as a Pa and soon met Lucas Grabeel on the set of Halloweentown High. The two hit it off immediately and »

I mean this is the nicest way possible, but what the hell has happened to Brendan Fraser? Let's all think back to the year 1998 when I was convinced Fraser was going to get the credit as an actor he so deserved after starring in Gods and Monsters. Then, when he took his spot as Indiana Jones' heir apparent in The Mummy, it seemed like he was slated to be the next big thing. But, here we are 10 years later, and let's just say I'm glad I didn't put any money on my earlier claims. Fraser has been happy to hang in the kiddie flick ghetto, and judging by this latest announcement, he has no plans on leaving any time soon. Variety reports that the man has just signed to star in the family-friendly flick Furry Vengeance for Summit Entertainment (since I will give credit where credit is due, I have »

In spite of the poor box-office performance of last week's "Inkheart", casting directors just keep giving Brendan Fraser more chances to bore audiences. His next blindingly-dull trek into the family film genre, according to Variety, will be in the live-action comedy "Furry Vengeance" from Summit Entertainment and Participant Media. Directed by Roger Kumble ("College Road Trip"), "Furry Vengeance" will see Fraser play a real estate developer whose latest project pushes into the unblemished wilderness of Oregon – ultimately pitting the developer against the angry animal inhabitants in what is sure to be a hilariously unpredictable comedy gem. It's almost too easy to ridicule Brendan Fraser at this point. For a second there, back when he was picking projects like "Gods and Monsters", it looked like he might try to do something ... »

If Brendan Fraser is in anyway bent on being taken seriously as a dramatic actor, he sure has a funny way of showing it. Mr. Family Adventure himself has signed on to star in the film Furry Vengeance, in which he will play a real estate developer whose new housing subdivision interferes with a pristine of the Oregon wilderness, pitting the developer against a band of angry critters. Another Hollywood shindig means another top award for Kate Winslet. Congrats to the Reading-born actress for picking up a gong for her turn in The Reader, this time at the Screen Actors Guild awards yesterday. She’s now odds-on favourite for the Oscars next month and to celebrate the enduring charms of Miss Winslet we’re bringing you our guide to getting her many onscreen looks later in the week. If you see… Ben Stiller lead a bunch of pampered L.A. actors to shoot a war film in Vietnam – only for the movie’s fighting to become reality in the action comedy Tropic Thunder.
