Trivia:

On September 27, 2007, XXY was chosen to represent Argentina at the Oscars, for the Best Foreign Language Film category. In a rare sweep, it was also chosen to represent Argentina at Spain's Goya Awards, for Best Foreign Film in Spanish. The tradition has been for two separate films to be sent to one of the awards each. The runner-up this year, in both cases, was Señal, La (2007), also starring (and co-directed by) Ricardo Darín.

Good but nothing special

When XXY was playing in the cinemas,I did not go to see it because the story did not interest me.But now,after all the praise and excellent commentaries this movie got,I decided to rent it.And it was a good movie but nothing special.XXY is slow and,on some moments,the movie is so slow that it bored me a little bit.Also,the story is nothing special.Still with that,this is a good movie.Inés Efron brings an extraordinary performance and she can express a lot of emotions without using dialogs.Also,the film has some brilliant scenes.XXY is not a bad movie.All the contrary,I think this is a good movie but it's not worthy of all the praise it received.I can recommend it with the warning that the film has some tedious moments.
