When you look at the manuscript written by egotistical station owner Max Showalter the first urge is to purge. It's at least 2000 pages and Stockard Channing's Susan is yawning in agony before she hits page 100. He even shows up at her door with Chinese food and one of his obvious old B movies and turns the pages for her. Channing doesn't have the urge to hurt his pride even though boss Ron Silver urges her to tell him exactly how she feels. When Showalter reveals that he's found a publisher, it's obvious that he's being conned so Stockard and Silver must find a way to expose them yet spare their big boss's feelings.
A great episode which sadly ended the only season, this is a variation of the "I Love Lucy" classic episode which revealed "Don't Let This Happen to You", and Stockard goes over time on the funny accents and silliness, reminding me a lot of Madeline Kahn with her delicious eccentricities and even a slight bit of Carol Burnett as Stella Toddler. Quite well written and delightfully performed.
