Nick Nolte's screen debut.
Robert Taylor's "official" final screen appearance. He passed away from lung cancer three days before the airing of "Jimmy Datron's Bonanza".
Jimmy Dayton (c.1829-1899) was caretaker for the Pacific Coast Borax company at Furnace creek, in Death Valley. The nearest railroad and supply station was Daggett, about 150 miles in San Bernadino County, California. On 24 Jul 1898, he set out for Daggett to get supplies, but when he didn't show up, friends began to search for him. His body was found on 11 Aug; his wagon was nearby, and his six mules were also dead. His dog survived, undoubtedly because he was able to find food and water.
