I just saw this movie at the cinema. After reading all this bashing I tried to keep an open mind and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Why can't people here accept and respect that we all have different taste? It's fine for you haters to dislike it and explain why you do, but calling those who think differently "fools" and such is just childish.
I thought the premises of this movie were simple but very smart and very effective. I won't deny that the film had some laughable bits in it, by which some are just a result of Shyamalan's "special" sense of humor (which I find kinda funny) and others are.. yeah, a bit ridiculous.
On the whole however, I got good entertainment and a few extrEEmely eerie and unique scenes. Definitely worth its money.
One thing that I just started thinking about and which set me in a kinda uncomfortable mood; What about the children? (Not trying to sound like the woman in The Simpsons :P). Following logic, kids inflicted to this airbourne subject must also have killed themselves. It's also logic that this wouldn't be shown in the film, but it is still worth thinking about, isn't it?
Also, what about infants and small children? Anyone with a theory?
This is not a masterpiece and the acting is definitely not Oscar-worthy. But it IS a very good thriller, with new and chilling angles.
That's my opinion anyway.
Good job, Shyamalan!
Thanks.
