Rob Hunter loves movies.  He also loves training friends and strangers alike in the deadly and mystical way of Jewish martial arts. These two joys come together in the form of cash money payments that he receives every week and immediately uses to buy more DVDs.  So join us each week as he takes a look at new DVD releases and gives his highly unqualified opinion as to which titles are worth BUYing, which are better off as RENTals, and which should be AVOIDed at all costs. Click on any of the titles below to magically head over to Amazon.com and pick up the DVD.  And don't forget to check out Neil Miller's hilariously titled This Week In Blu-raycolumn for reviews on the latest high definition Blu-ray releases! It's a pretty slow week for new movies on DVD, but if you need to catch up on some TV shows, well then you just might be in luck. Debuting on DVD this week is the Kevin MacDonald thriller State of Play starring Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, along with Disney's repackaging of the Planet Earth nature series as a feature length documentary called simply Earth, plus the indie baseball drama Sugar and the Sundance hit Sin Nombre. Also in stores are the latest seasons of Heroes, Desperate Housewives, Supernatural, and Rescue Me, plus some fist-pumping epic action with both Braveheart and Gladiator on Blu-ray. See anything worth checking out? State of Play [1] (DVD, Blu-ray [2]) Earth [3] (DVD, Blu-ray [4]) Sugar [5] (DVD, Blu-ray [6]) Sin Nombre [7] Bring It On: Fight to the Finish [8] Good Dick [9] Meteor [10] G.I. DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed No major new reviews this week, but if you have some time I too a rather extensive look at the Warner Bros. Archive title Don't Be Afraid of the Dark yesterday. It's a film being remade with Guillermo del Toro producing and may be of interest as well as it will introduce you to Warner's attempt to creatively distribute some of their never-before-released titles on DVD. You can check that piece out right here if you are interested. Paramount Blu-ray Sapphire Series

Braveheart / Gladiator I am expecting to have review copies of these two in my hands any day now, and I will hustle through them as fast as I can. However, considering the two titles in question I would expect many of you are already eying one or both of them. I know I would definitely be looking »

Your Weekly Cinema-scope: A Cinematic Look at Your Astrological Chart for August 31st-September 6th

31 August 2009 7:28 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Welcome to your weekly movie horoscope with Madame Millie Kilakilarney. She will point you in the direction of the DVDs you need to watch this week according to the astrological charts she keeps on her bedroom wall. If it's in the stars or on store shelves, she knows about it!

Aries (March 21st-April 19th): You're never happy with your environment, but I think its because you seldom get out of the house. You stay cramped up in that dark attic all day, reading your little comic books and watching your little movies. No wonder you hate it when the sky opens up and starts spitting a hailstorm of rain on your roof. That shit is so distracting. This is the week for you to get in tune with nature. Take a hike in the woods. Stroll down an ocean beach. Or simply go roll around in the grass outside in the yard. »

Clips for Peter And Vandy and The Vicious Kind

8 February 2009 6:02 PM, PST | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

What is up with Collider? They keep getting all these exclusive clips for Sundance premierers. Are they pulling in favors or do they got dirt on someone? I don't know, but luckily, we get to enjoy a look at some of the more low-key material (which we love) out of Sundance even if it isn't a trailer.

Peter and Vandy stars Jason Ritter who was in the fantastic Good Dick which premierd at last years Sundance, along with Jess Wexler and is directed by first timer Jay Dipietro. Peter and Vandy is a love story told out of order. Set in Manhattan, the story shifts back and forth in time, juxtaposing Peter and Vandy's romantic beginnings with the twisted, manipulative, regular couple they become. The film explores the question most couples ask themselves... 'How the hell did we get this way?'
