Mary is suspicious of who sent Lofty to see her but she gets him to hold Annie who promptly vomits all over his shoulder. Later Lofty brings her some furniture and brings some tools and something to block the draft coming through the windows. He tries to make a start but Mary is still suspicious and gets upset and tells him she can manage on her own and doesn't like handouts. Eventually though she must have relented because Lofty tells Dr Legg that he has been at Mary's and fixed her window and a few other things and Dr Legg invites him for a drink at The Vic. Dr Legg sees that Debbie and Andy are there so he orders a bottle of red wine and four glasses and he and Lofty join them.
Dr Legg tells them that he went to the Department of Housing and that he was told that they may be going to pull down and redevelop the whole side of the Square that Mary's flat is on.
