Best celebrity nude scenes of 2009? 'Californication's' Eva Amurri tops the list

29 December 2009 12:56 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

In all the excitement over all the other year- and decade-end lists, we almost overlooked Mr. Skin's ever-popular ranking of the best nude scenes bestowed upon us in 2009.

Previous winners have included Salma Hayek in 2006 ("Ask the Dust"), Marisa Tomei in 2007 ("Before the Devil Knows You're Dead") and Mischa Barton ("Closing the Ring") and Lizzy Caplan ("True Blood") in 2008 for their film and television work, respectively.

This year, the list has been combined once again and shortened to a mere Top 10. At the top of list, Susan Sarandon's daughter Eva Amurri for her turn as a college student/stripper on Showtime's "Californication," beating out Jessica Biel's feature film turn in "Powder Blue."

Two other TV performances were noted, Anna Paquin for HBO's "True Blood" (her second time to appear on the list) as well as Alanna Ubach on HBO's "Hung."

Mr. Skin's Best Nude Scenes of 2009

12 December 2009 11:56 AM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

It is, of course, end-of-the-year list time, and while we're anxiously waiting to see what critics groups crown the best films of the year, Mr. Skin has something else in mind. As he does every year, the industry leader in flesh, has ranked the best nude scenes of the year, combining both films and cable TV.

I think we all kind of expected Jessica Biel to win this year, with her ballyhooed first nude scene in Powder Blue. Had it been a surprise and had it not leaked to the internet and had the film actually made it to theaters, I think it probably would have won. She was upended, however, by Eva Amurri and her revealing stint on Californication. The other TV entrant is Anna Paquin from True Blood; last year, the show's Lizzy Caplan made the list, when Mr. Skin split it into TV and film categories.

Albert Elms obituary

10 December 2009 10:34 AM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

Composer best known for TV's The Prisoner

The talents of the composer and arranger Albert Elms, who has died aged 89, could be heard on television shows from the 1950s to the 70s, perhaps most memorably on the admired espionage series The Prisoner (1967-68).

As musical director and composer, Elms shared the desire of the show's star and creative force, Patrick McGoohan, to confound viewers expecting the conventional. The Prisoner's incidental music featured sly quotations from the nursery rhyme Pop! Goes the Weasel and the Eton Boating Song, accompanying scenes of McGoohan's enigmatic former secret agent, Number Six, prowling around Portmeirion, on the north Wales coast.

Elms supplied incidental music for several other series made by Itc (Incorporated Television Company), the film-making subsidiary of Sir Lew Grade's ITV franchise holder Atv. Beginning his association with the company during its monochrome, swashbuckling period, he eventually adapted to its involvement with 1960s psychedelia. »

'Twilight' star Justin Chon places in top ten most influential Korean-Americans listing

8 December 2009 12:53 AM, PST | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Justin Chon, "eyes and ears" of the Twilight institution, is once again news, baby. He's been placed on the top ten most influential Korean-Americans list by the Korean Beacon. According to Kb, "Justin Chon was one of the most searched people on our website and the two interviews we conducted with him had some of the highest traffic this past year." Chon, who portrays "Eric Yorkie" in the Twilight series, has had a fun career to watch unfold over the past few years. He's taken on really serious films like Crossing Over, but he's also had some fun with acting with films like Hack! Additionally, he went viral with a short (but very, very well done) film entitl »

Justin Chon talks 'The Glass-Off Memoirs'

27 October 2009 12:54 PM, PDT | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Okay, so that's not the official name for the film just yet, but excitingly enough, Twilight saga star Justin Chon's been co-authoring a screenplay according to a recent MTV interview. Chon, who is known for his lively work in films such as Crossing Over and the recently revealed Turbo, is apparently giving his all to a new non-Twilight feature again. Though the film includes "a working title," it is about, according to that interview, "a road trip down to Argentina, with three kids that grew up in Huntington." »

Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst Star in Upside Down

22 October 2009 8:46 AM, PDT | movies.about.com | See recent movies.about.com news »

Jim Sturgess, last seen onscreen in the indie drama Crossing Over, has joined Kirsten Dunst to star in Upside Down, a sci-fi film set up at Onyx Films. According to Variety, Upside Down will have a Romeo and Juliet vibe.

Cinematographer Juan Diego Solanas wrote the script and will be directing the film. Shooting is reportedly set to begin in February in Montreal. If so, this may be a tight squeeze for Dunst who will be starting work on Spider-Man 4 in March, if the fourth Spider-Man movie continues on its current schedule.

Dunst recently wrapped work on All Good Things with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Ryan Gosling and based on an unsolved New York murder case. Sturgess just completed work on Peter Weir's The Way Back, a fact-based drama set in Siberia. Sturgess is also part of the voice cast of Zack Snyder's first animated film, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, »

Sex and the City 2 attracts another hottie

13 October 2009 1:14 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Alice Eve has joined the cast of the in production Sex And The City 2, according to trade reports this morning. We're digging around to find info on Ms. Eve, and here it is. She is the daughter of Trevor Eve and Sharon Maughn, she was born in the year 1982, and her favourite colour is a peachey orange. Actually, I don't know if that last one is true. Eve has appeared in a bunch of Brit flicks including the James McAvoy starring Starter For Ten, and the Simon Pegg comedy Big Nothing, which it literally was. She does appear in the upcoming Harisson Ford flick Crossing Over though.

In Sex 2, Eve will play a nanny to Charlotte's baby, who apparently causes tension among the ladies. Shooting is underway on the chick flick, which is out next summer. Can't hardly wait.

NCIS: Los Angeles Producer Speaks on Crossing Over

3 October 2009 10:51 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Shane Brennan has a nice gig: he's the producer of both NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles.

Also known as: the top rated shows on all of television last week.

In a new interview with TV Guide Magazine, Brennan said he has plays to integrate the shows often with one another, starting with the appearance of Abby in Los Angeles.

Here's what the producer had to say about upcoming crossovers between his pair of hits:

On crossovers: Abby will visit Los Angeles. It’s a story that will be self-contained, but the ripple effect of what she’s involved in will go back to Washington with her, and it will play out in the second half of [the original show’s] season. It’s a two-way street here.

When we do these crossover episodes, they’re about making sure that both shows are taking something from it. It’s not about one show supporting the other. »

[DVD Review] The Least of These

25 September 2009 8:00 AM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

A month or so ago saw the release of Crossing Over on DVD. The film was about multiple angles on the issue of immigration and how the United States handles it at its best and worst moments. The Least of These dwells in the worst. With only 62 minutes to get its point across, the documentary takes a sharp look at the T. Don Hutto Residential Center in Texas opened with the sole purpose of housing immigrant families together as they awaited their trial for either deportation or granting of asylum. The concept sounds noble doesn’t it? Giving a place to families who’ve braved the border cross who have nowhere to in between their day in court and their day of arrival? According to Clark and Jesse Lyda the center is an awful idea badly in need of change – or at least it was until its recent shutdown in »
