Interesting but the show simply cannot prove much...

While interesting, this episode of "Secrets of the Dead" takes on a task that simply is unprovable. It looks at the tombs underneath the Church of the Sepulcher in Jerusalem to determine if one of them was Christ's grave. But with all the bodies buried there as well as the Christian assumption that he isn't STILL there, you wonder how they will manage to uncover anything new or of historical or scientific interest. After all, you KNOW they didn't find bones that they could prove are Jesus'--and thereby PBS would prove conclusively that Christianity is a sham!! I think we'd all remember if this had happened when this first aired in 2002!! I am not being disrespectful, seriously, just pointing out that the show really can't uncover new secrets and won't prove or disprove the traditional narrative. So if it can't prove that which must be left up to faith, is it still worth seeing? Of course. Whether you are a Christian or not, it is a nice look into the church and is a rare opportunity to see this revered place--even if, as the show states, many think his body was actually buried elsewhere. It's all mildly interesting but it often seems to be one supposition piled on top of another. Lots of conjecture and mildly interesting.
