James Franco To Star In Danny Boyle's 127 Hours

2 hours ago | Screenrush | See recent Screenrush news »

James Franco (Spider-Man, Pineapple Express) has been cast in the lead role of Danny Boyle's upcoming project, 127 Hours. The film will tell the story of Aron Ralston, the mountain climber who amputated his own arm to free himself after being trapped by a boulder for nearly five days.

This will be Boyle's first project since he swept up a sackful of awards for Slumdog Millionaire, and he will be working again from a script written by his frequent collaborator Simon Beaufoy. The script is said to contain no dialogue what-so-ever for the first hour of the story. Who Franco's character will begin talking to after the first hour is up is a bit of a mystery, because In the true life story, Ralston was stuck in the canyon completely alone.

Production will begin in early March in Utah.

Anna Kendrick And The Wackness Director Join James McAvoy Cancer Comedy

5 January 2010 8:19 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Anna Kendrick is on a friggin' roll right now after her sure-to-be-Oscar-nominated performance in Up in the Air, so it was only a matter of time before she snagged some sweet new job to capitalize on her newfound success. Turns out that job will be with fellow bright young thing James McAvoy and, uh, The Wackness director Jonathan Levine? There's a strange collection of names now attached to the project formerly known as I'm With Cancer, in which McAvoy plays a twenty-something diagnosed with cancer and learning how to live with it. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who also wrote Superbad and Pineapple Express together) will be producing the film, in which Kendrick will play a young psychologist trying to help McAvoy's character while learning how to do her job herself. The role sounds perfect for Kendrick, who's got the "confused young go-getter" thing perfected. I'm both surprised and delighted »
