Ten years ago, model Petra Nemcova was hit by a tsunami while on vacation with her boyfriend in Thailand. Swept out to sea by a wall of water on Dec. 26, 2004, she clung onto a palm beach tree for almost eight hours. Nemcova, who suffered internal injuries and a shattered pelvis, was one of the lucky ones. Her boyfriend, photographer Simon Atlee, and more than 200,000 people in 14 countries died in one of the deadliest tsunamis in modern history. "I never knew what a tsunami was," she told NBC News as she revisited the beach town of Khao Lak, Thailand, to mark...

While Sheryl Crow may have turned heads in NYC on Thursday night, it's safe to say this wasn't one of her best fashion moments. The 52-year-old stunner attended the Happy Hearts Fund Gala in Manhattan last night, where she defied her age in a figure-hugging floor-length gown with a thigh-high slit that showed off her toned and trim physique. The shoulder-baring dress featured a key-whole cut-out and bright red trim, and she paired the revealing look with a red clutch and peep-toe pumps. Unfortunately, her sexy ensemble was completely overshadowed by the fact that her sheer frock exposed her white panties, causing a serious wardrobe malfunction as paps snapped pics of the "Soak Up the Sun"...

While the "Feels Like Home" singer may have missed the mark on the red carpet, her body looks amazing. She seemed to be channeling Angelina Jolie as she put her gorgeous gams on display.Crow took to Twitter to show her support for the cause, which raises money to rebuild schools and restore hope and opportunity in the lives of children after natural disasters. "So honored to be here supporting @pnemcova at the @HappyHeartsFund gala with @ScottHamilton84 and @TracieHamilton8," she tweeted along with a cute candid. What do you think of her red carpet mishap? While jetting from Milan to Paris to New York and working with the world’s most prominent photographers, supermodel Petra Nemcova never thought about becoming an entrepreneur.
She left her home in the Czech Republic when she was 18 to pursue her dream career of modeling, quickly rising to prominence in the fashion world and landing on the covers of magazines like Elle, Glamour and Sports Illustrated.
Now 34, Nemcova is still active as a model, but she's moved on to new endeavors. She’s a philanthropist, an ambassador-at-large for Haiti, her adopted home, and now a business owner.
“I think you have different dreams in different stages of your life,” she said in an interview with The Huffington Post.
Nemcova’s first entrepreneurial venture is a luxury home decor brand called Be The Light. The initial line is a collection of fancy candles, each representing a piece of a different country's culture.

Russell Simmons talks about the positive act of making positive changes, his connection to kids and his love for yoga. The following is an excerpt from Origin Magazine.
Interviewer: Ocean Pleasant, Global Youth Editor of Origin Magazine
Ocean Pleasant: You have an extremely powerful presence in mainstream media. How do you use that platform to try and instigate positive change in the world?
Russell Simmons: Well, I try to use my voice. I know that celebrity is valuable, and people do listen. I jokingly refer to Kim Kardashian as more powerful than the President because she actually has 50 million more Twitter followers than the President. I have 2 million Twitter followers. Some of those people are also yogis and activists and people who really go out and make a difference. I do as much as I can with my voice. It’s effortless in some cases. I try to remind...

Sean Penn has teamed up with the organisers of the Cannes Film Festival in France to put together a charity gala to raise money for ongoing aid efforts in Haiti.
The Hollywood actor set up the J/P Haitian Relief Organization to help rebuild the country in the wake of its devastating 2010 earthquake, and he will be raising funds for the cause during this year's famous movie event.
Haiti: Carnival in Cannes will be a fundraising diner held during the festival in aid of Penn's charity as well as filmmaker Paul Haggis' Artists for Peace organisation and the Happy Hearts Fund, set up by model Petra Nemcova.
Festival president Gilles Jacob says, "People say that a great actor is by nature egocentric, and that a great director is focused on his art. Sean Penn is both a great actor and director. What he does above and beyond that for the people and the land of Haiti, giving freely of himself, his abiding presence, his work - one could almost say the work of his own hands - his whole discreet, human, moral and altruistic involvement as a benefactor, commands our greatest respect."
The dinner will be held on 18 May.

Tribeca: As the subject and executive producer of The Russian Winter, how would you describe the film in your own words? John FortÉ: The Russian Winter documents our nine-week tour through Moscow, Russia and beyond. Our primary mission was not only to share our own music, but also to collaborate with Russian artists. We wanted to immerse ourselves in the culture and to learn how people on the other side of the world view their lives. We were privileged enough to be able to donate all the proceeds to local charities and other organizations, including The Happy Hearts Fund. We didn't just issue checks; we showed up and visited these orphanages and hospitals to share our music. Tribeca: How did The Russian Winter come to fruition? John FORTÉ: It originally started as a plan for a weekend trip, but Russia seemed like a long way to go for...

Valentine’s Day came early to Seattle Grace and it wasn’t too kind, as Grey’s Anatomy returned from alternate reality with "All You Need Is Love." With this many doctors and their constant drama, it was bound to get ugly.
Many things went down, so let’s get to discussing. What couples made it through the Hallmark Holiday and who crashed and burned?
Case Time. V-Day brought out the love and the patients felt the wrath. A boyfriend died before popping the question and two 10-year olds brought the cuteness. Leave it to Grey’s to hit you with sadness one minute and make you smile the next minute.
Time to make this clear. Alex Karev is without a doubt the best peds doctor ever! When he read that letter to the peanut butter girl, my heart skipped a little bit. I know I’m not alone in that.

Dancing with the Stars contestant and tsunami survivor Petra Nemcova talks with Life and Style about her dancing experience so far. After wowing the judges Monday night when she danced to “You Raise Me Up,”, the model turned activist is pushing through the pain.
But with her physical injuries (from the tsunami)—a pelvis broken in four places and severe internal injuries—it’s a miracle that she even walked again. “It’s mind-blowing and fascinating how much you have to push yourself to actually be able to do one step,” Petra tells Life & Style. Because of her injuries, “I don’t have very good balance, my back is arched — which is bad because a dancer is supposed to be straight — and my pelvis turns in.” But incredibly, seven years later, Petra is up on her feet and moving beautifully on this season’s Dancing With the Stars.
