David Tennant has advised that it will be "at least 10 years" before he would consider returning to Doctor Who again.
Tennant spoke to Digital Spy at last night's (January 21) National Television Awards, where he was given the Special Recognition Award.
Having returned to Doctor Who in 2013 for the 50th anniversary special, the star admitted that fans should not expected to see his Tenth Doctor opposite Peter Capaldi's Time Lord any time soon.
"I think you have to ration these things," he said. "It's probably got to be at least 10 years before that happens again, I think."
Though asking for Broadchurch spoilers was strictly forbidden, Tennant also spoke to DS about the ITV thriller's success, the "ubiquity" of Doctor Who and whether the rumours linking him to a guest part on Us series Hannibal are true.

Coronation Street star Bill Roache will lead the tributes to Anne Kirkbride at the National Television Awards tonight (January 21).
This evening's event at London's O2 will honour Kirkbride following the sad news that she has passed away at the age of 60.
After 42 years as Deirdre Barlow on the ITV soap, Nta organisers were naturally keen for Kirkbride's long career to be recognised at the ceremony.
When the event's producers entered talks with ITV and Coronation Street yesterday, it was decided that Roache - better known on screen as Deirdre's husband Ken - should take to the stage and make a speech about the much-loved star.
Coronation Street's producer Stuart Blackburn told Granada Reports: "Bill's going to be saying a few words paying tribute to Annie. We know that's going to be difficult for him because they were very dear friends. It's just our chance to support him and...

The National Television Awards are only a couple of days away and here at Digital Spy, the hot topic of discussion is 'who should win?'. We've debated 'Best Drama' and 'Best Talent Show' and today we want your thoughts on the best leading lady on the box. Who should take home the 'Best Actress' title on Wednesday (January 23) night? Gillan, Hart, Jones or Smith? Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) Doctor Who has an impressive pedigree at the NTAs - dating back to the Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston era - and Gillan and Matt Smith both took home gongs in 2012. But with the spotlight shifting to new girl in town Jenna-Louise Coleman, it's not a done deal for Kg. However, it would be harsh for the flame-haired Scot to miss out after such an emotional and powerful farewell from the franchise. Miranda Hart (Call the (more)...
