  • Errors in geography: When Gallaxhar's computer is showing the location of the earth, it shows the Milky Way, and zooms near the center, actually, the solar system is a lot further from the center, nearing the edge.

  • Continuity: The hair on Link's chest disappeared in one scene and then reappeared later on.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the president plays the keyboard to welcome the alien robot, he uses a Yamaha DX-7 and is seen (and heard) using a beat box feature. This feature does not exist on this keyboard.

  • Factual errors: The scene depicting the evacuation of San Francisco shows tolls being collected on the Golden Gate Bridge for cars driving north. Although this is amusing, tolls are only collected southbound (on the way into San Francisco).

  • Factual errors: After Derek completes his TV weather forecast, a director can be heard saying "cut". You don't "cut" a live TV broadcast: this is a film term. The correct term should be "we're out", (meaning off air) or just "out".

  • Factual errors: Even given their great heights it would have been impossible for Gallaxhar's giant robot and Insectosaurus to stand aside the Golden Gate Bridge. The water's depth is ~300 feet deep and then there's another 200+ feet from the water surface to the bridge itself.

  • Continuity: When Susan uses the hover devices to exit the ship, she barely passes through the openings she made as Ginormica, which should be relatively larger.

  • Factual errors: The list of songs in the closing credits includes, "Here Comes the Bride - Traditional". In fact, the title is "Bridal Chorus", and was written by composer Richard Wagner for the opera "Lohengrin".

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the transporter makes its turn around the TransAmerica building, the sound is of a large propeller aircraft, not a jet.

  • Anachronisms: The jet fighters seen in the film are F-14 Tomcats. However, the F-14 was retired from service in 2006 and was replaced by the F-18 Hornet.

  • Errors in geography: The call letters for Derek's TV station are WDLH. If this station is in California, the call letters should begin with a "K".

  • Factual errors: When Susan (at normal size) exits the alien spaceship using the hovers, the altitude should have made it difficult (or impossible) for her to breathe.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the President plays the "Close Encounters" motif on the synth, he's playing in the key of C, but the music heard is in the key of F.
