- Adam Carter: Have you heard the news, Oliver?
- Oliver Mace: No. Is it good?
- Adam Carter: The defense secretary is with the PM now, resigning. The PM himself is going to have to face Parliament. God knows what they're going to do with you.
- Oliver Mace: I'll get my wrists slapped. They'll re-invent my post. You can't stop the inevitable.
- Adam Carter: Oh, I think we can.
- Ros Myers: [after Zaf refuses to tell her Ruth's location] It's all right, I don't need to know. I just hope she's well hidden, that's all, because there's going to be a full-scale witch-hunt. Just hope she's got a broomstick.
- Jo Portman: [seeing Ruth and Harry conversing in Harry's office] God, those two. One minute it's off, the next it's all on again.
- Ros Myers: I hadn't noticed.
- Jo Portman: This tracker should tell us. If it's straight home for Ruth, then maybe not. But if it's out for a Chinese or a curry, then maybe.
- Ros Myers: I'm really not interested.
- Jo Portman: Come on, there's not much else to smile about.
- [tucks a small tracker into a pocket of Ruth's coat]
- Jo Portman: Ask Zaf, he's running a book.
