Photo: The Weinstein Co. Yesterday Apple debuted a third trailer for the December 18 release of Nine, which you can watch just to the right or in high definition right here, but even more importantly RopeofSilicon has just scored 34 new brand spanking new images from the musical adaptation of Federico Fellini's 8 1/2 and you simply don't want to deny yourself the pleasure of perusing these beauties.
I am finally seeing this film next Tuesday and have done my best to avoid any advance word and have done well so far. Directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago), Nine is described as a vibrant and provocative musical following the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star »

With all manner of exotic accents, boobies aplenty and Penélope Cruz begging Daniel Day-Lewis's Guido to give it to her, a full trailer - you know, a real one, with more than just singing and dancing - for Nine has finally arrived over at Apple.
For those not in the know Nine is an early 80s Broadway musical based on Federico Fellini's mid-60s masterpiece 8 1/2. Day-Lewis stars as Guido (originally played by the sublime Marcello Mastroianni) a film maker who has assembled a crew who are busily building sets and making costumes, bought to together a cast who are desperate to know all about their roles but one thing is holding the whole process up: the director has no idea what the film is about.
We here at Screenrush are great fans of the musical but have never seen Nine. We can only imagine the famous dream sequences »

With only twenty-five days until release, the third trailer for Nine finally reveals some of the story. Usually a music isn’t that contingent on story – the one prerequisite is that it’s cute or charming – but this is based on the legendary film 8 1/2, after all. Rob Marshall’s musical seems to retain most of the angles: the childhood whore, the Catholic guilt and upbringing, and Guido’s latest project which represents a creative roadblock – though the space rocket looks like it’s been replaced by some ancient Greek or Roman set. Of course, I’m pretty sure that the film’s plot will veer closely to the Italian musical, which I haven’t seen, and most people reading probably haven’t either. 8 1/2 is my only bearing. Hopefully it will combine the strong story of Federic Fellini’s classic with the musical pizazz of Rob Marshall to create an experience »

A brand new trailer for drama musical "Nine" has arrived, providing more sneak peek at its impressive cast ensemble. Coming out courtesy of Apple, the two-minute plus promo video gives out a better look at Kate Hudson's Stephanie Necrophuros character as she flirts with Daniel Day-Lewis's Guido Contini, and at Fergie aka Stacy Ferguson showing off her siren side.
Aside from those two, the trailer also unravels more of the plot story and helps to explain what connection Guido has with the many other women in his life. It previews his relationship with Marion Cotillard's Luisa Contini, Penelope Cruz's Carla Albanese, Judi Dench's Lili and Nicole Kidman's Claudia Jenssen.
"Nine" is adapted from the 1982 Tony-winning Broadway musical and directed by Rob Marshall. It revolves around world famous film director Guido Contini who deals with a personal and professional crisis, while at the same time »

Counting down to the theatrical releases of "Nine", Weinstein Company unleashes a new trailer which is the accumulation of the first two released trailers. If the previous trailers give a taste to the musical scores and pieces sung by Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie and Kate Hudson, this third trailer mixes both of them and adds a hint of plot.
Daniel Day-Lewis' Guido Contini's life as an acclaimed Italian director is exposed along with the nine women surrounding him. Hudson is the American Journalist who has a passion and obsession toward Guido while Marion Cotillard is his devoted wife who is in the know of his affair with Penelope Cruz's character.
Basically, every characters' function, conflict and objectives are teased here like how Judi Dench's Lilli becomes Guido's confidant in pouring his dilemma. However, two characters, that of Fergie and Sophia Loren are not given enough spotlight. The »

Being a male in my early 20s, I'm not exactly Rob Marshall's target audience. What can I say, lavish musicals aren't really my thing. Now that the new trailer for Nine has arrived, however, I might have to make an exception. Apple has released the third trailer for the film and it's kind of hard to ignore. Even if you aren't part of the singing-and-dancing crowd, it cannot be denied that Daniel Day-Lewis is nothing short of a cinematic champion (has the guy made a bad film yet?) and has a stellar female cast that doesn't seem to be afraid of showing some skin to attract a male audience. The new trailer also focuses much more on the plot of the film, rather then the style, giving uneducated moviegoers the sense that there is more to the movie than Kate Hudson singing about people from the South Jersey shore. »

The Weinstein Company has released another trailer for Rob Marshall's musical Nine, which was derived from an Italian play by Mario Fratti which was inspired by Federico Fellini's autobiographical film 8½. This new trailer is a bit more conventional than the previous two in that it finally gives us a bit of insight into the plot of the film as well as a variety of songs showcasing the talents of Fergie, Penelope Cruz, and more. But still no display of Daniel Day-Lewis' musical chops. Oscar bait or not, a musical based on Federico Fellini's 8½ is something that I can't stop looking forward to when it's released this Christmas. Fire this trailer up! With only 19 days left until it hits theaters, Nine has a new trailer which finally goes beyond sex, cinematography, and accolades (which won me over), and attempts to present as many characters as possible as well as the conflicts of the main character, Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis). It gets to just about everyone in the cast except Fergie and Sophia Loren, so let me help out with that right now: Loren plays Guido’s mother and Fergie plays the whore from his youth. I’m not sure why they didn’t try to explain those roles, but it does accomplish a lot within the span of two and a half minutes so head over to Apple and check it out.
Nine hits theaters on December 18th. Hit the jump for a brief synopsis.

The Satellites (formerly Golden) have announced their 2009 nominations for what it's worth. And you might be screaming "not very much".
It's hard to know what to make of this Golden Globe splinter group. There is never much of a narrative thread in their nominations. You can't sense from year to year a type of film they like or whatnot. Which makes them feel a bit suspect. They also do very strange things which you're about to see if you read their nominations. They never get much attention and yet they keep plugging away. This year they were especially kind to 2012 (who knew?), Nine and The Stoning of Soraya M. But they were downright rude to the sci-fi drama Moon which received zero nominations despite their lack of aversion to sci-fi films. I mention this because the moon is a natural satellite and the Satellites are artificial. Maybe they're jealous. What they're orbiting we know not. »

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem may not be from the United States, but they celebrated Thanksgiving with their friend Sean Penn this year. The couple stopped off for gas and drinks before arriving at Penn's house for the holiday feast. Penelope has been busy on the promotional campaign for Broken Embraces and the upcoming Nine, but she always manages to avoid questions about her relationship. Still, there are rumors that she's been wedding dress shopping after being spotted wearing a ring on a certain finger recently. Whether or not that ends up being the case, Penelope and Javier's love of privacy doesn't preclude them from taking in an American family tradition together. View 2 Photos › »
