A cauldron of tension at Collinwood stirs when Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) quarrels with Vicki (Alexandra Moltke). Carolyn is upset after seeing Burke drop Vicki off after what she assumes is a date. Vicki senses Carolyn is attracted to the older man. Meanwhile, Mrs. Johnson (Clarice Blackburn) checks in with Burke in the mobile telephone booth at the Collinsport Inn, before ordering from Maggie (Kathryn Leigh Scott). Mrs. Johnson is a very picky eater, insisting on only the best ingredients for her roast beef sandwich. The roast beet must be well done, with washed lettuce and fresh mayonnaise...
Complaining about a sour mayonnaise smell, Mrs. Johnson orders Maggie to re-make a roast beef sandwich, even though Maggie claims she just opened a fresh jar. Maggie says creepy, ten-cent tipping Mrs. Johnson gives her "the willies." Back at Collinwood, Liz (Joan Bennett) is upset about Vicki spending the day with Roger and neglecting David's lessons; apparently, Roger never told Liz he'd given Vicki the day off. Vicki is taken aback by Liz' accusations, and the women quarrel. Carolyn makes progress in persuading Liz to hire Mrs. Johnson as housekeeper, unaware it is part of a plot...
