The aftermath of Roger's accident creates all sorts of suspicions.
mark.waltz28 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's late at night and Elizabeth is waiting for Carolyn to return home, concerned about having heard that she was with Burke. When she does come home Elizabeth informs Carolyn of what transpired, eventually telling her of what occured with Burke 10 years before. It's mainly an episode of conversation, with Sam and Frank also discussing Roger's accident over beer. In short, nothing much occurs, although it nice to see Joan Bennett with her hair down, looking quite lovely.

Detective-style interrogations

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 19 once again carries on the fall-out from Roger Collins' car accident as Burke once more becomes the main suspect. This time around, Carolyn and some of the villagers gossip/discuss the incident while the back story between Roger and Burke is further explored. I did like the use of suspenseful music during some of the interrogations here, which make this feel like a detective story.

"The Whole Town Is Talking"

Still reeling from the shock of Roger's car crash, Liz (Joan Bennett) is unable to sleep because Carolyn is out late. Her daughter had gone out with Joe, then met Burke. Malloy (Frank Schofield) calls to report he's looking for Carolyn. At the Blue Whale, Malloy tells Sam (Mark Allen) about Roger's accident. Bartender Bob O'Connell has a cigar in his mouth as a signal he won't be speaking to his patrons - if he spoke, Mr. O'Connell would have to be paid as an "under seven" line actor. For related reasons, when Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) and Joe (Joel Crothers) stop by the hotel restaurant for a hamburger and coffee, Joe serves both. "They're short-handed, Maggie went home sick," explains Joe. Watch for the series first great example of "Mike Shadows" on the drawing room doors, after Joe brings Carolyn home to Collinwood...
