- J.R. Ewing: You know what's the wonderful thing about being me, Sly? With my reputation, I don't have to do a damn thing. Everybody thinks I'm behind half the deals in Dallas anyway.
- Sly: I'm sure you've earned that reputation.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: There is one more Ewing.
- J.R. Ewing: John Ross? I don't count him as a Ewing yet.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Well, I was thinking about Jamie.
- J.R. Ewing: You don't think I consider her a Ewing, do you?
- Sue Ellen Ewing: What I was about to say is that, uh... she and I went shopping today, and, uh... we have a little surprise for you.
- J.R. Ewing: [perky tone] She going back to Alaska?
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Stop that.
- J.R. Ewing: [chuckles] I'm just teasing, hey?
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Come on.
- J.R. Ewing: All right, what is the surprise?
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Well, just a second.
- [walks towards stairway]
- Sue Ellen Ewing: I know how you love surprises.
- [calls up:]
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Come on, Jamie.
- [and Jamie comes down the stairs, a vision of loveliness]
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Isn't she beautiful?
- J.R. Ewing: Well,
- [scoffs]
- J.R. Ewing: it's amazing what a few thousand dollars can do, isn't it?
- [Jamie loses her smile]
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Oh, J.R., what a terrible thing to say.
- J.R. Ewing: Really? Well, what's next? Are we gonna cap her teeth?
- Jamie Ewing: [hurt tone] There's nothing wrong with my teeth.
- J.R. Ewing: Oh, I guess not. You're sure taking a big enough bite out of the Ewing apple.
- Jamie Ewing: You know, I didn't ask for any of this.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, I know how hard it must have been for Sue Ellen to convince you to take it.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: As a matter of fact, it was.
- J.R. Ewing: [to Jamie] Well, congratulations, young lady, on finding yourself a *real* nice home.
- Jamie Ewing: You know, you're really something. No wonder my Daddy didn't want to have anything to do with you.
- [turns to go back upstairs]
- J.R. Ewing: Well, it's a shame you're not more like him.
- [Jamie fleds up the stairs]
- J.R. Ewing: Oh, now, don't go away mad.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: How can you be so cruel?
- J.R. Ewing: Not cruel... suspicious.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: I thought you had changed. But I still see a lot of the old J.R. The one I *hated.*
- [walks away]
- Teresa: [J.R. walks on to the dining table, sits down solo] Will you be eating alone?
- J.R. Ewing: Yeah. Seems like it, doesn't it?
- Mandy Winger: [after Bobby drove off] So that was Bobby Ewing.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: That's right.
- Mandy Winger: Sure is good-looking.
- [Pam stands there wistfully]
- Mandy Winger: Seems real nice too.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [nods] He's that and more.
- Mandy Winger: I can definitely understand if... you're still hung up on him. It must be awful tough to walk out on someone like that.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: It was.
- [walks away]
- [last lines]
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Mr. Carson, you're frightening me.
- Avery Carson: Why?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [dismayed] Because you're making it sound like Mark weren't dead. As though he were planning to come back!
