Need to catch up? Check out our previous Riverdale recap here.
Riverdale went retro this week with a throwback night at Pop’s diner… but I’m a lot more worried about the town’s future, actually.
Pop’s is now a ghost town, thanks to Fred’s shooting; vandals have even spray-painted “Death Diner” on the walls. (Hey, Fred didn’t die! Fact-check your graffiti, people!) And Archie’s still on edge, chugging energy drinks and pressing Sheriff Keller about finding the masked gunman. He goes further off the rails when he learns of Miss Grundy’s death, and...

Melissa Joan Hart is being slammed online after complaining that Hurricane Maria canceled her family vacation to the Caribbean.
“And just like that, our family vacation is canceled,” Hart captioned a now-deleted screenshot of a weather alert on her phone on Tuesday. “Such a bummer but we plan to hit the @nickresortpuntacana resort another time this year.”
The update warned that Hurricane Maria had made landfall on the Caribbean island of the Dominica as a Category 5 hurricane.
CNN reports 14 people in Dominica died, while 3 million people living in Puerto Rico are completely without power after the storm pummeled the U.

Plumbing. A little light vacuuming. Some unfortunate heaving into a bucket.
These aren’t the typical glamorous activities you’d expect to see from Empire‘s Lyon family, but they all figured prominently in the show’s Season 3 fall finale, which included a permanent character exit, two significant death threats, a major public shaming and one of the filthiest lines of dialogue on network TV all season. Yesterday, amid a crush of sweaty people desperate for last-minute props, I visited a local Halloween superstore with my daughter, looking for a Pikachu mask. Well, there wasn’t much to choose from in the Cute Kid Division. But this particular hall of Halloween hell definitely had the adult sensibility covered. Of course there were the usual skimpy or otherwise outrageous costumes for purchase —ladies, you can dress up like a sexy Kim Kardashian-esque vampire out for a night of Hollywood clubbing, and gents, how about impressing all the sexy Kim Kardashian vampires at your party by dressing up like a walking, talking matched set of cock and balls! It’s been a while since I’ve shopped for fake tools of terror, but it seems there’s been a real advance in sophistication in the market for “Leatherface-approved” (I swear) chainsaws with moving parts and authentic revving noises,...

Last time we dropped in on San Francisco-based “Doom Pop” unit Death Valley High, they were being massacred by their own demonic doppelgängers in the bloody music video “Multiply,” from their 2011 album Doom, In Full Bloom. Fortunately, they survived to rock another day, appropriately dropping the interim Ep Survival Program (its release coinciding with a certain failed apocalyptic prediction you might have heard about), and resurfacing this week with a new full-length studio album, Positive Euth. The quartet remain true to their roots in gothic rock, blues, horror punk, metal and power-pop, jumping from one genre to the next with wild abandon, but they've undergone some more solidifying changes since their inception in 2010, something frontman Reyka Osburn attributes to a “reawakening” phase in Dvh's creative evolution. “It’s all about shedding dead layers and limbs, and re-animating,” he explains. “We survived doomsday to be positively undead.” Besides the literal use of those themes (i.

Today is MTV’s 30th birthday, and the good folks at EW.com have asked me to say a few words. Turn up your computer speakers and listen to our story, won’t you?
As you’re aware, MTV premiered 30 years ago today. As you’re aware if you’re old, MTV took a while to go nationwide. The prevailing wisdom, as I recall it, was that such a thing could never catch on. The idea of a 24-hour music-video channel was tantalizing for the youth of the early ‘80s, and the wait for the cable systems in St. Louis to carry it was excruciating.

A little light has been shed on director, Neill Blomkamp's 'Elysium,' his first film after his much praised 2009 sci-fi, 'District 9.' A viral website for a company called Armadyne -- not to be confused with Cyberdyne -- has come online. It features a brief video showcasing the company's goals of creation and its finer aspects. Another piece of media comes in the form of a recruitment sign that Coming Soon has stumbled across at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, which is currently running from July 21-24. It can be checked out below. Much like Blomkamp's 'District 9,' 'Elysium' is a sci-fi with real-world issues. It's said to take place in the distant future on a planet different from our own. The film features Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Alice Braga, William Fichtner, Diego Luna, and the lead of 'District 9,' Sharlto Copley.

Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to play a couple songs from his latest solo effort, Demolished Thoughts. The noise rock veteran performed “Circulation” on the show, complete with a violinist and harpist to back him up. Moore also performed the mellow jammer “Blood Never Lies” as a web exclusive. As if bringing just one legend on the show wasn’t enough for Fallon, Hüsker Dü’s Bob Mould also came on the show to play a short tune with The Roots and promote his new autobiography, See A Little Light....

Whether you’re trying to avoid the releases this week or augment them with even more movies, your alternate box office offers some options for movies that would play perfectly alongside of (or instead of) the stuff studios are shoving into the megaplex this weekend. This week features Liam Neeson kicking ass and forgetting his name, a teenage alien, the plight of lions around the world, and Martin Lawrence in a fat suit trying desperately to get your attention. The Game (1997) Double Feature With: Unknown The Pitch: David Fincher’s thriller (that has nothing to do with picking up women in bars) seeks to confuse the audience just as much as Michael Douglas’s Nicholas Van Orton character. The wealthy businessman is given a mysterious gift from his black sheep brother – an invitation to The Game. Without knowing what’s it about, and after being turned down for participation, Van Orton tumbles into a world of deception...

Crazy Mama (1976): Roger Corman has launched countless careers, and here we get to see the beginning of a famous one: Oscar Winner Jonathan Demme. Twenty-five years before he would director The Silence Of The Lambs he directed this small gem of a road movie. Set in 1958, Cloris Leachman stars as Melba Stokes, who runs a beauty parlor with her mother Sheba (Ann Sothern) and her teenage daughter Cheryl (Linda Purl). When the shop is repossessed, Melba packs up the family and hits the road in an effort to reclaim her family home in Arkansas. Aided by Cheryl’s beleaguered boyfriend (Happy Days’ Don Most), a greaser (Brian Englund) and an old lady gambler (a scene stealing Merie Earle), they joyride through five states on a wild, hilarious crime spree.

The Film:
I get excited when I hear director Noboru Iguchi has a new film out, it gets me giddy with excitement. I don’t doubt that he’ll always be a B-movie director that’s to one-note and odd for some, and humorously outrageous for others, even so, his brand of Japanese gore-fest won’t ever be adopted into genre hearts like the films of Takashi Miike have. But that’s okay. Arm-pit swords, butt-throwing stars, and band-saw mouths, are aimed for those who smile at a title like RoboGeisha. “Wig Napalm!”
Iguchi’s Machine Girl exploded across the pond due to its imaginative premise, mixing gore, violence, and humor all the while cranking it up past 10. Tokyo Gore Police and Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl continued and furthered his style and appeal. RoboGeisha on paper seemed equally as fun and madly brilliant. 'What are they going to do, put a tambourine in my hand?' Jorge Garcia laughed last month, before jumping onstage with Weezer in Hollywood.

Weezer's Tuesday night Axe-sponsored secret show in Hollywood featured a whole lot of surprises — you know, aside from the show itself, since it was a secret — including My Chemical Romance joining the band onstage to rip through a version of "My Name Is Jonas" and former "Lost" star (and inspiration for Weez's new Hurley album title) Jorge Garcia, who shared lead-vocal duties with Rivers Cuomo on "Perfect Situation."
And if you think the crowd was shocked by all this (which, judging by YouTube footage of the performance, they were), you can imagine how Garcia must have felt. When MTV News spoke to him last month, he spoke about his future plans to help the band promote Hurley,...

A little light into how "Glee" will tackle the "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" tribute has been shared. E! Online is reporting that the original castmembers of the 1975 film will be on board the episode which is slated to air on October 26 to coincide with Halloween.
The two stars are none other than Meat Loaf and Barry Bostwick who portrayed Eddie the Ex Delivery Boy and Brad Majors the Hero respectively. But instead of reprising their roles, these two would be TV station managers who have "an interesting proposal" for Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester.
Susan Sarandon was also in the original movie and she was open to join the episode on one condition. "[It would depend] what they wanted me to do," Sarandon told People. "I'm not really a singer, so I wouldn't be very out there. I'm a terrible singer."
There was also a hint that "Time Wrap" will be performed by Chris Colfer's Kurt.
