  Afton Cooper : I was supposed to open at the club tonight. Where were you? Not with me. No, you were right here at our home ready to hop into bed with Marlee Stone!

  Cliff Barnes : Afton...

  Afton Cooper : Take your hands off me! The only reason I came back was to get my things and leave!

  Cliff Barnes : Oh, well, that really takes me cake. Okay, baby, you do just that, you split. That shows how much you really care.

  Afton Cooper : How much *I* care? I walk into *my* house and I find you with another woman!

  Cliff Barnes : Nothing happened.

  Afton Cooper : Well, if I hadn't walked in, it *would* have.

  Cliff Barnes : Oh, you mean, like what *did* happen between you and Gil Thurman?

  Afton Cooper : [shakes her head]  Cliff, that is unfair of you to bring that up. That was a whole different thing.

  Cliff Barnes : Yeah, that was different. You *did* sleep with Gil Thurman. I *didn't* sleep with Marilee Stone.

  Afton Cooper : [softly]  You know why I slept with him. So you could get that refinery you wanted so much. The only reason I let that man touch me was for you. Because I loved you.

  Cliff Barnes : Oh, I see. So, what you're saying is that if you're sleeping with someone for business it's okay.

  [nods] 

  Afton Cooper : No, it's not what I mean.

  Cliff Barnes : But, Afton, that's what you are saying.

  [comes closer] 

  Cliff Barnes : Marilee was here on business. And I repeat,

  [emphatically:] 

  Cliff Barnes : I did not sleep with her.

  [she is at a loss for further words, and he nuzzles her neck] 

  Cliff Barnes : Don't you think it's time we made up?

  Afton Cooper : Cliff, don't touch me.

  Cliff Barnes : You don't want me to touch you?

  Afton Cooper : [voice trembling as he kisses her shoulder]  No.

  Cliff Barnes : You want me ever to touch you?

  Afton Cooper : Not now. That's for sure.

  [grabs her things, rushes off]
