- Cliff Barns follows through with his threat to the Ewing's that he's going to tell the whole world the true story about Jock Ewing and Digger Barns during his acceptance speech of the prestigious Oil Man of the Year Award at the annual Oil Baron's Ball. While on stage, Barns accuses Jock and the Ewing family of getting filthy rich off the oil that was stolen from his father, and Jock's best friend, Digger Barns. Afterwards, the Ewing family approaches the Barns table, not to deny any of Cliff's accusation about their father, but to instead call Digger Barns a pathetic drunk just before throwing a plate of food in Cliff Barnes face.
Soon, fists and food start flying everywhere during the Ewing's and Barns tuxedo street brawl. J.R and Cliff take each other on, while Bobby and Pam's new love interest Mark Graison trade punches to the face. Even young Peter (played by Chris Atkins) gets involved by beating up a couple of waiters who have nothing to do with the Ewing vs Barns feud.
